The rumbling building towered before the three. Its metal frame crackling like the emptiness of it made it humane. And hurting. Kanehama didn't particularly care for it, eyes cast aside from its sight. Herself still troubled with the task at hand.
At least, she could enjoy Shoji's company. It wasn't often she would meet someone close enough to her height so she wouldn't have to look down or couch to hear them. He was, very tall, to others but not to her, he was just about eye level. Looking at him, it seemed, he too was relieved to have someone more of his stature to talk to. Or look at, at least.
This team could truly be a powerhouse. She believed so.
However, there was no denying Todoroki's solidarity.
Standing alone, in his secluded part of the street, he watched the building. Averting eye contact or small talk, simply waiting to be released into the exercise, his hands resting atop his pockets. It felt very awkward, to both of them. Haru liked to believe he was excited and impatient - however, she couldn't read him. She hoped Shoji would not be much of a talker either, because well, friendly as she was she didn't enjoy keeping conversations running when she had other things to focus on.
Like the trail. After that dog's stunt, she felt obligated to show off- he played ruthlessly and recklessly and evidently lived up to his title of an aggressive untrained hound. Now, looking at the young Todoroki, she let her thoughts sink in. Familiar as she was with the hero society, she held her doubts about him. Played his name to be an unexpected coincidence. But he did get in through recommendations. And that icy distant look in his eyes confirmed her suspicions. It's not like she could ask if he was - it felt nosy and unlike her to step into people's personal lives. Mingle with their families, especially since he hadn't mentioned it yet, he must be ashamed of his father - given the isolation he kept over his left side. Hiding his fiery red hair and blue eye. Todoroki was Endevour's son. He must be.
It made Kanehama cross her arms, and raise a brow a bit inquisitive at his behavior. Was he socially awkward? or so arrogant he didn't think it was important to even look at his teammates? She assumed the latter.
"All right young heroes!— Your trial starts now!" All Might's voice boomed into their ears, the earpieces crackling to life with it. Then an ear-piercing buzz rang through the building, she could see drones flying through the room setting themselves to better angles.
Todoroki took it as a notice, his feet shuffling towards the building's entrance, unbothered to look back or commute to his teammates of his plan. If he even had one. "Wait hold on!" Kanehama piped up, skipping in front of him with her arms outstretched like a barrier, eyes cast down judgingly. Was this guy seriously going to do the exercise by himself? Just because he was some big shot's son? Like she would let him do anything like that. And demote her- team. Her team.
There were many things Kanehama disliked. For example men, dogs, or things with little value. People who were rude, or loud, vulgar or violent - also pissed her off. Not as much as overbearing suffocating people who stripped her of her independence and did things their way and their way only. She hated the smell of sweat or arrogance... Ironically she also hated hypocrites. Even though she very much was one.
