Jareth wiped some sweat from his forehead with the back of his hand.

It had gotten hot later during practice, and throwing axes wasn’t exactly the easiest duty.

Avalina abruptly sat down, leaning against a tree. “It’s hot today!” she gasped.

Ceana looked at her and nodded. She still wasn’t great at axe-throwing, but she could now actually hit the target. She also sat down, leaning against a crate.

Glen and Jareth exchanged glances and shrugged. Jareth sat a few feet away from Avalina, and Glen sat a few feet from him.

They were silent for a few moments.

“It’s quiet. Like, too silent.” Glen spoke up.

“Yeah.” Avalina agreed quietly, running her fingers through the grass.

Jareth looked up. “What should we do now?” he asked.

Ceana shrugged. “No idea. Maybe we could go swimming?” she suggested.

Avalina looked up. “It is a nice day.” she murmured.

Jareth picked some grass and tossed it. “I guess.”

Glen shrugged and stood up. “I guess if everyone else is going, I will.”

   And so they went.

When they got to the ocean after preparing for the event, Ceana immediately rushed into the water.

Avalina rolled her eyes and stepped into the water, but immediately jumped back. “That’s freezing!” she gasped.

Jareth snickered and approached her. “Oh, is it? Watch this!”

“Watch wha–Jareth!” she yelled as he lifted her and threw her into the water. She was able to swim so this was perfectly fine.

Avalina broke the surface, gasping. “Jareth Art Whelani, I’m gonna kill you!”

Jareth blinked at her. “How do you know my middle name? I never told you it.”

“Lucky guess.” she said briefly before getting out of the water and chasing him.

Jareth gave a quick wave and ran.

That night, Jareth lay on the roof of his home, staring at the stars. They had always fascinated him, and he often snuck outside at night and climbed onto the roof to stargaze.

A comet fell across the sky, causing Jareth to feel a new hope for the future. The upcoming battle would be victorious for the Celts.
