A little Meya watched from her parents hutch as the rain fell into the open sea water, her mother, Ronal, messed with her hair making it neat, even though her hair was partially in braids. She wondered what it would be like with the older children in the clan like her siblings, Tsireya and Aonung, but she had to follow the instructions given to her by Ronal and Tonowari.
"Mom, why can't I go outside?" the little Meya asked Ronal, still gazing outside while Ronal continued with her hair, Tonowari, her father, glanced at her with his eyes "the world is a dangerous world, filled with cruel and selfish beings. You are better off here, where it is safe" Ronal told her in a calm and soothing voice "okay, mom" Meya said sounding a little disappointed of why the world had to be so cruel but she never knew what kind of cruelty Ronal spoke of.
Later that night
Meya woke up to the sound of rain dripping on the water, she tip toed past her parents and her siblings and creep out of their hutch to look beyond the reef, the words of Ronal about the outside world had creeped to her but that wouldn't stop her from believing that not everybody in the world would be so cruel.
She sat outside watching yellow, glowing, tiny fish swimming around her feet, seeing them made her enjoy somewhat of their company which seemed okay since she wanted to enjoy the calm before any storm, if anything like that occured in her lifetime. Ilu's also swam around her but they didn't make a noise since there were only a few as life on Pandora was sleeping at the latest hours of night.
For a time, Meya actually felt safe within her own clan, even though she didn't think any sky people or anything like that would come to her clan or to any of them without a valid reason or if they ever decided they wanted someone dead.
Meya looked up at the stars knowing that she was going to enjoy the time she had while it was still there, but she never knew how long it would last and when it was going to end.
