I woke up the next morning to see Zippy stretched out beside me. "Good morning, Zippy." "Morning." He responded I picked him up and grabbed my bag. We exited the tent and I light the fire. I grabbed clothes and bathing supplies from my bag. then I took Zippy and my stuff to a rock beside the lake, so he could sun bathe. I grab my soap and set it on the grass, then I strip. Quickly I get In the lake, the water is cold so I dunk myself quickly not wanting to stay in long. I surface and start soaping up my hair and body before quickly rinsing off. I dry quickly and get dressed. With my teeth chattering I gather zippy and my stuff before hurrying to the fire.
After warming up I start cooking scrambled eggs and sausage. I'm humming softly to myself as I make my plate. after I finish eating I look up and see a giant red python lounging in a near by tree. "zippy, I think I found my new muse." I say as I pull out my sketch book and sketch them quickly before they move. then begin the coloring process the world around me goes silent as I fuss with the shades to match correctly.
Once finished I look up to hear zippy yelling at me. "Dammit Fae ! Move!" Confused I look around to see the python in front of me admiring my drawing. "Oh, hello" I say to the giant python "Do you like it?" I ask and he looks at me strangely so I raise an eyebrow at it "I take it you don't?" I ask after a minute of staring he shifts into a human upper half with a snake tail he's muscular with red hair I blink confused "Zippy, did I hit my head today?"
"You know I'm starting to wonder myself." He replied sassily "you speak snake?" The red python man asks and I realize he looks an awful lot like Curtis. "Yes, I do.." I say unsure "are you a snake female?" I raise an eyebrow at him confused " I'm n.." I trail off "what's your name?" I ask him "my name is Curtis, what's your name?" He asks me "my name is Fae, so Curtis um why did you get out of the tree?" He smirks when I say his name "because I was curious, what clan are you from?"
"Uh...?" I ask unsure as I look at zippy who looks down right terrified "Zippy, I uh think we aren't in Kansas anymore.. " I say at as mall attempt at humor
Zippy snaps out of his daze "Fae he's tetra marked just like the story.. I don't think this is safe.." Curtis looks at Zippy then at me and I take a breath and try to think quickly
"Okay, time out. I'm so confused right now." Curtis looks at me.
'So we're in the beast world with actual beast men and Zippy wasn't messing with me last night... Okay so.. he's actually Curtis?' I reach out and poke His face his skin feels soft and cool beneath my finger "Weird not a hallucination."
"Fae?!"Zippy asks like I lost my mind and maybe I had here I am actually poking a snake beast man's face. I pull my hand back "Sorry, I'm not from here... Zippy and I just got here yesterday." After what feels like a minute Curtis asks "from where?" I respond without thought "my world."
Zippy flinches from his place at my neck.
Curtis looks surprised but brushes it aside "Since you aren't from here you need to be more careful. I can protect you if you choose to let me be your male." he says gently
I look at him unsure 'I know he's from the comic I read he's attentive and protective and strong.' think to myself before responding "Okay, well Curtis let's get to know each other better before I commit given that males only get one chance let's make sure we can get along and we're compatible"
"That's agreeable." He responds after a few minutes of debating we decide to pack up and go to a near by cave that Curtis lives in.
