In the small, sunlit parking lot of Michael's, you and Gojo loaded your bags into the back of his car, each lost in your thoughts. The air between the two of you was heavy with unspoken words as the two of you settled into your seats, the faint scent of fabric softener and craft supplies mingling in the air.
As Gojo pulled out of the parking lot, the silence in the car was deafening. You gripped your sweat pants tightly, your mind racing back to the moment in the store when Gojo had unexpectedly kissed you. It wasn't a real kiss, you reminded yourself. Just a way to deter the girl in the store who was trying to hit on him. Still, the sensation of his lips on yours lingered, and you couldn't shake the feeling of confusion and awkwardness that followed.
Gojo, seated in the drivers seat, glanced sideways at you, his own thoughts a jumble. He hadn't meant to put you in an awkward position; it was just the first thing that came to his mind to get the other girl to back off. But now, as you sat in the car, he regretted not finding another way to handle the situation. He could sense your discomfort and wanted to break the silence, but the right words eluded him.
The road stretched ahead, flanked by trees and the occasional passing car. The hum of the engine and the rhythmic swish of the tires were the only sounds, amplifying the tension between the two of you. Your house wasn't far, but the journey felt never ending.
Finally, Gojo cleared his throat, deciding to address the elephant in the room. "Hey..y/n, about what happened back there... I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable. It was just—"
You cut him off, your voice tight but controlled. "It's fine, Gojo. I get it. You were just trying to get rid of that girl. No big deal."
"Still, I shouldn't have put you in that position," Gojo insisted. "It was thoughtless of me."
You sighed, "Look, let's just focus on the project, okay? We've got a lot of work to do, and we can't afford to get distracted."
Gojo nodded, relieved that you were willing to move past the incident. "Yeah, you're right.
As he pulled into your driveway, the tension began to dissipate, replaced by a sense of determination and focus. You had a project to complete, and despite the awkwardness, the two of you were going to see it through together.
The moment you entered your house, you immediately noticed how quiet it was. This was unusual because normally with Nyla and Bri there was never a quiet moment in the house.
"What happened to your friend and cousin?" Gojo asked. "Weren't they here earlier?"
"Idk. I guess they left but either way I'm not complaining." You shrugged.
"Well cmon let's get to work." You lectured as you put your things down.
The two of you settled in the living room, spread out you newly bought materials and started working. The earlier incident gradually fading into the background as you two immersed yourselves in the present task. Despite the initial awkwardness, the two of you finished your project feeling a sense of accomplishment.
You and Gojo had just wrapped up your project, the remnants of your hard work scattered around your living room. As you began to clean up, the silence between you felt heavier, more awkward. Seeking to break it, you asked, "Are you hungry? I'm thinking about getting takeout."
He looked up, nodding. "Yeah, I'm hungry, but I don't want takeout."
Surprised, you raised an eyebrow. "What we gon eat then?"
