Authors POV

As Jennie walked up to Kai, Jihyo and Irene went behind her. When Jennie finally got to Kai, he looked confused and scared.

Jennie: Kai, what are you doing here?

Kai: Um

Before he could respond, someone interrupted him.

Haerin: Oppa, do you have any candy left? I finished the lollipop you gave me.

Kai reached into his pocket, grabbed a lollipop, and gave it to her.

Kai: No more candy. I have to drop you and the rest of NewJeans home, and I don't want to be the reason you are sleepy during practice tomorrow.

Haerin: Unnie Jennie. Why are you here?

The rest of the NewJeans came to get Haerin. When Jennie saw them, she had a look of disbelief on her face.

Jennie: Girls, why are you here? This is for the Mafia only, and you shouldn't be here. Especially you, Hyein. You are only 15. Minji, I'm disappointed in you.

Minji: Sorry, Unnie. When our parents died, people tried to attack us to gain his position. So we had to learn to defend ourselves, and we ended up becoming the Mafia.

Jennie: So on those late nights, you were doing mafia stuff?

Jennie: Do not turn this around. You were the one lying to me.

Kai: You could have lied to me for just as long.

Jennie had tears pouring out of her eyes, and she walked away from Kai. Irene ran to catch up with Jennie, and Jihyo stayed to talk with Kai.

Jihyo: Really? Are you serious, Kai?

Kai: What?

Jihyo: I've known you and Jennie for a long time. And I know that you shouldn't have turned the situation around.

Kai: What was I supposed to do? Let her talk to me about lying to her when she was doing the same thing. Jihyo, I was not going to say anything when she was lecturing me about lying when she was doing the same thing.

Jihyo: That girl has been through a lot. Her parents gave up on her when she was 12 because of a misunderstanding. When Mr. and Mrs. Kim died, she took it the hardest because they gave her the life she always wanted. She had to inherit a company called Mafia, and she is a K-pop idol. Cut her some slack.

Kai sighed and sat down.

Kai: You think I don't know that? I know that I shouldn't have done that. I'm stressed.

Jihyo patted him on the back.
