1. In Search of Light

If I could soar on wings of freedom's grace,

The world would bow to me in wide-eyed wonder.

Above, the sky's expanse, a boundless space,

A miniature world below, cast asunder.

But here, I find no path to escape this sphere;

 in the shattered, white car, autumn whispers near.

The world outside awaits my tumultuous fear; like a brazen mockingbird,

I race nowhere near.

My brother's hand, a lifeline in this bleak domain,

Searching for refuge through his eyes, I strain,

Seeking solace from this turbulent rain,

Desiring love and warmth, my heart refrains.

I remember chasing light's embrace so brightly,

Only to be thrust into a house of darkest fright;

red and blue lights pierce the night so keenly,

Yearning for a mirror, an escape from the blight.

Soon, all colors fade, and darkness does amass.

Memories held dear are swallowed by the night's vast.

Family, once known, is now an enigma, a broken glass,

My mother's face, a cryptic message, changed so fast.

Those we called foes became our steadfast friends.

In this stormy journey where everything bends,

Life's kaleidoscope twists and takes unexpected ends

In this ever-shifting world where love and hate blend.
