The great, the bad, and the ugly

MaKeena had just finished up her work for Mr. Dutton she's headed over to see Lee who stood by the arena. She walked over and stood next to him and he wrapped his arm around her shoulders.

Lee: Hi baby

MaKeena: Hey

Lee: You ready

Makeena: Yeah

Even though the couple had almost a 9 year difference they wouldn't change their lives for the world. They both made their way to his truck and her car. Then they headed up to the Dutton family home even though Makeena was the only unofficial Dutton living there she was still considered apart of the family. When they pulled up to the Dutton house hold John was getting ready to leave and Jamie was trying to talk to him. The couple shut their vehicles off before getting out and walking over to John.

Lee: You're not comin dad

John: No I got a meeting in Bozeman... why don't you take your badges out with you today take a riffle too

Lee: I mean they won't give us any trouble over frays

Makeena: Hell they'll probably help us round 'em up

Lee: The badge is for the rangers riding with you it'll keep 'em from bringin home any extras

The couple looked at Jamie as Mr. Duton walked away. They walked over to Lee's truck and got in. Once everything was situated they left. Soon they all reached to where they needed to be.

?: That is our property god damnit

??: I can't hear you come about 2 feet closer

?: You think I won't

??: I think you should

Soon one thing led to another and the old man was on the ground. Then Mr. Dutton came in on the helicopter and eventually landed. Lee walked over to him. Soon John went and talked to an old man but the came back and told the couple to clear everyone out. The next day Lee when with his dad to check on the cattle while MaKeena stayed at the ranch and worked with the horses. The next next MaKeena woke up early and got ready for the day throwing her old beaten felt hat on and makin sure her pants were straight and then she walked downstairs and out the front door to be met with her boyfriend and her American quarter horse. She watched as Kacey pulled up with his son and made his way over to his father and then Beth. They headed off and rounded up the heard before the boys headed towards the river with their poles.

Tate: Can that nice lady come she gave a cookie

Kacey: If she wants to come I don't see why she can't

With that the four boys and the one girl were off to the river. They sit on their horses fishing well Jamie gets off his handing his reigns to Lee as he finishes pulling in a fish. They all caught a fish and started a fire on the bank side to cook the fish. The. It's started arguing and Makeena just sat there silently listening to them and eating her fish. Lee threw a rock at Kacey making Tate throw his fish at him and yell at him. Kacey calmed him down and they all laughed. They packed everything and headed back to the house. The couple made it home and sat in the living room talking to John before they decided to go to bed. The next morning they met with John and the rest of the ranchers to go watch some guy kill one of the cattle. The next day two cattle were killed last night and the rest were moved. They talked about how to get the cattle back and once the plan was official they headed out. It's a long drive and a long ride if they were on horses. When they finally reached their positions it was late and they waited for John's go ahead. They got John's go ahead and took off to round the cattle. They were headed back with the cattle when John told them to pull back. MaKeena was told by Lee to get as far from the men that weren't with them as possible and to be careful and that he would also see her at home. Everyone had reached the Dutton household just about everyone went home. The next morning everyone woke up early Lee still hadn't return and now there was police at the house. Just as Jamie began to have the cops send out all their agents on four wheelers John said he found him and Jamie canceled it with the police. John rode up to whoever was coming towards the house they switched horse and John rode off and Kacey came riding up. As he rode off on the horse John was just on Jamie and Makeena asked questions getting no answer in return. Makeena went inside and waited for John's return to the house. Makeena could hear the noise from Lee's room. She decide to go downstairs and make her some food. It was obvious that she had been crying and still is crying as she walked down the steps she looked over at John and Jamie.

Makeena: Where's Lee

Jamie: Makeena he uhmm...

John: He's gone Mak

And that's when Makeena had broken down for the second time in one. As she thought about the man she loved so much having to be buried she fell to her knees screaming and crying in pain. John walked over and comforted the girl that should've been his daughter-in-law in the next few months. After he had got her to calm down he told her when the funeral was and made her some breakfast but instead of coffee it was a cup of liquor. She smiled thankful that he's caring for her but that smile wasn't real I mean how could it be she just lost the man that she's loved for 4 years. After eating she went upstairs and picked of her outfit for the funeral and then she took a long hot bath. A few days later it's Lee's funeral. John and Makeena sat beside each other watching the little kids run around the yard.

John: Reminds me of him and Kacey

Makeena: I'm leaving' tomorrow John

John: What

Makeena: I've talked to Lee about it and I've found a rodeo that I'm goin to and I might live in the road for a while but I don't mind

John: When are you comin back you're my best horse worker

Makeena laughed and smiled a genuine smile at the man.

Makeena: I'm the only one who breaks and works with them John

John: That's why I need you... you're the best I'm gonna find

Makeena: I'll only be gone a couple months at most... it's just this place reminds me of him too much

John: That won't change when you get back

Makeena: I know but it won't get any better if I stay here

John: I understand that

Makeena: Thank you John

John: Of course Makee

Makeena: And I hope you respect what ever I choose to be called when I come back

John: Of course

Jamie walked up and told them it was time. Makeena was the o lot other person that Jamie had respect for in the house. They walked over to the burial site for Lee and listened to the priest and then they all walked away as Lee was buried. Makeena didn't waist anytime getting back to the house to pick up. Once she was ready she left a note explaining her goodbye and then she was off.
