"Maybe he got a stomach ache?" I heard through the door. Apparently, the headmage also heard this based on his next actions"I most certainly did not!" He stated as we entered the large room. I took a look around, taking note of the mass of students. Some were certainly more eye catching than others.
"Ah, speak of the devil," a boy with red hair said.
"If you must know, I was searching for the new students who'd failed to show for orientation. You two are the only ones who have yet to be assigned a dorm. Step up to the Dark Mirror one at a time, and be quick about it. I'll watch your weasel." My fellow hooded student seemed nervous so I put my hand on their shoulder.
"I'll go first," I stated stepping up to the mirror.
"State your name," the mirror instructed. This is certainly a new experience.
"Portgas D Y/N," I answered, causing the student I came here with to gasp. Before I could question them the mirror started.
"The daughter of a King," it started, causing me to glare at the mirror. "Freedom flows through your veins as magic does ours. Your soul burns with passion for adventure but also loyalty to those dear to you." My glare lightened as it continued on, "your soul has properties of all dorms but none could be a perfect fit."
.
.
.
."WHAT!?"
I heard many voices scream, causing me to cover my ears. "Man, you guys are loud.."
"Daughter?"
"All dorms?"
"No you got it wrong it said no dorm!"
"Is she cute?"
"So she's a princess?"
"So many questions....," I mumbled with an irritated expression forming on my face. Crowley cleared his throat catching my attention and silencing the students.
"Miss Portgas, could you remove your hood," he asked more as a demand. I sighed and lifted the hood off my head and let it fall.
My short dark hair fell to its normal style, I could hear people's comments about my appearance, but at the moment, I really don't care.
"A female student?..." Crowley contemplated, "there has never been a female student brought to Night Raven, much less one befitting of all the dorms." Crowley mumbled a bit more to himself before coming to a conclusion. "We will sort this out after orientation, now you." Crowley pointed to the other student to go forward, and I made my way beside Crowley. As the person made their way to the Mirror I took a look at the cat, who was very grumpy in Crowley's arms.
"State your name," the mirror repeated.
"I'm Yuu.." the person, now known as Yuu, answered. Yuu, huh? That's strangely fitting.
"Yuu, the nature of your soul is.....unclear to me," the mirror says, confusing everyone, including myself. Unclear? So they don't have a soul?
"What does that mean?" Crowley askes the mirror.
"I sense no magical power from this one. Soundless. Colorless. Shapeless. Utterly vacant. Therefore, no dorm would be appropriate," the mirror allaborates.
"Are you suggesting that the black carriage went to receive a person who cannot even use magic? But that is absurd! The student selection process has not erred once in its century of existence! How could this have happened?" Crowley looks like he's losing his marbles. Is he really more concerned about Yuu than me? I don't use magic, although I guess a devil could be considered magic? Whatever..
In Crowley's frenzy, the cat breaks free, "Let me take this students seat! Unlike those humans I can use magic! And I'm a male!" Well, that's rude. You didn't have to bring me into this. "Look, I'll show you my spells are the cat's meow!" Suddenly the cat started shooting flames and I quickly jumped over to Yuu.
"Everyone, get down!" A boy with red hair says. Flames are shot at a boy with white hair and red eyes. I run over and grab him with my back, facing the flames. I let out a quick breath and turn my attention to the boy in my arms whose eyes now look like their sparkling before panicking.
"Your back is on fire!" I raise an eyebrow and look over my shoulder to see my robes are ablaze. I quickly sit the boy down on his feet and take off my robe revealing my bikini top and shorts from underneath. I throw the burning robes to the floor and stomp them a bit to put out the flames. I feels eyes on me and turn to see most of the students with bright red faces. I turn my attention back to the boy I saved.
"You're okay, right?" I ask, looking him over. He nods with a big grin.
"Yeah! Thank you for saving me, I'm Kalim Al-Asim!" I chuckle at his cheerful attitude, it reminds me of Luffy.
"Anytime, I'm Portgas D Y/N but you can call me Y/N," I bow slightly. Before Kalim can respond to boys step forward to take care of the the cat the introduced himself as Grim. "One moment," I pause Kalim and make my way to the boy with glasses and the boy with red hair. "Your trying to stop the cat right? Lemme help you out a bit." I say with a grin before stepping into Grim's fire range.
"What is she doing?," the two say in sync. The boy with glasses watches with interest and greed while the boy with red hair watches with interest and concern.
"You know Grim, you are right," I started staring at Grim who was readying another blast. "Your spells are pretty cool but," I pause as blue flames come at me, "I'm better." Then I'm engulfed in the flames, causing everyone to gasp.
"Y/N!" I hear Yuu scream in anguish reminding me of my death..
Suddenly, the flames part and start to swirl around me. I pull all the flames from the room before putting them all out with a flick of my wrist. It's silent as everyone processes what just happened. I lean over my shoulder to look at the two boys, "it's safe to approach him now, he's done burnt himself out." I say referring to Grim.
The red haired boy makes his way forward after recovering from the shock. He raises a pin? Up and says "Off with your head!" Ah so that's how magic works..
