A S H L E Y

"Ju?" I called out to my little pancake warrior, who was currently devouring blueberry pancakes like a miniature swordsman charging into battle.

"Yughf?" he mumbled, mouth full, making me laugh at his funny tone.

"Eat slowly, sweetheart," I said gently, watching him chew as if his life depended on it.

"Hm hmm hmm... nom nom... omkay," he answered between bites, nodding seriously while still shoving more pancake into his mouth like it was his last meal on Earth.

I laughed again-he always made me laugh. Ever since I moved into this big mansion, he was my sunlight.

But...

It's been two months.

Two months since that night.

Two months... and I haven't seen Jungkook again.

Not even once.

And yet... I'm still here.

Alone, surrounded by hundreds of paintings filling the room. I couldn't stop-painting had become my addiction. This house gave me something I never had before: freedom. No burdens. No deadlines. No fear.

Just me.

And Ju.

Still, I couldn't ignore the tightness in my chest.

That feeling.

The uncertainty.

He didn't raise his voice at me that night. Not once. But what if he does?

He can... right? He's capable of it. He's dangerous, no doubt about that. But also-

His gaze.

His words.

That night, they were too sincere... too raw.

Jungkook tries to look like the untouchable man, the one who doesn't flinch, doesn't care, doesn't need.

But I saw it.

That crack in his armor.

His eyes whispered of pain, of longing... of a man desperate to be wanted but too afraid to admit it.
