What can be predicted of this the war is that it was started by the French. This can be confirmed by how in the second episode he is asking his "friends" questions. But he doesn't only ask them in English he also asked"Allo bella, comment t'appelles tu?" which is french and can be translated to "Hello beautiful, what do you call yourself?" This could mean that France invaded the US and that people learned to speak the language to try and get by. This is also why Salad Fingers wanted to go to France. He thinks the war is still going on and he wants to help fight in it.
The reason that France could have started this war is because they wanted to be the greatest world super power. France is the fourth super power in the world behind America, China, and Russia. So what they did was gather weapons of mass destruction and started taking over those countries. (Leaving us for last)
Because of how big and destructive this war was it was called the Great War and would be remembered by those who lived for the rest of their lives.
