Next day Later, at Luz's house...

"Oh my mi amor, you're here!"

A smile grew on Luz's face the moment she heard her mama's soothing voice. Luz stepped out of the carriage with the help of Amity by her side, hand laced together with hers. "Mama," Luz attempted to run to her but was stopped by Amity when Luz slightly stumbled, one of her hands moving wrap around her waist. Amity gave her a look, which made Luz smile apologetically at her. "Thank you."

The moment Luz's mama saw who was beside Luz, her eyes widened, and she instantly bent down onto her knees to bow. But before she could, Amity was quick by her side and helping her back up. "There's no need to be so formal with me, ma'am—we're practically family at this point."

That brought a smile to Luz's mama's face, and her smile only grew wider when her eyes then landed on Luz's stomach. "Oh my goodness, look how big you are! How far along are you, querido?"

"Six months," Luz answered with a grin, Amity sharing the same expression as Luz. The both of them were eager for the baby to arrive, excited to be able to hold the bundle of joy in  Luz's arms and see their adorable, precious face.

"Well, come in, come come," Luz's mama urged you both into her home, stepping aside to let the both of them to go inside before sliding the door closed behind. "I'm made your favorite—Came De Res Guisada and Fried Plantains."

Luz's mouth instantly watered. She turned towards Amity and said with the widest grin, "You're going to love it! Mi mama's Came De Res Guisada and Fried Plantains are the best in the world, I promise!"

"I believe you," Amity says back with a smile, heartwarming at Luz's happy expression. She has never seen Luz this cheerful before, and the sight of it made her feel content.

When stepping inside Luz's mama's home, Amity was left shocked at how small it was. There weren't any walls separating the tiny kitchen or the living space, and her bedroom, which just consisted of a bed, was on clear display. Despite the home being small in general, Amity felt more welcome here than she has ever felt back at home. Amity couldn't help but feel her heart flutter when seeing Luz's happy, talking with her mama, both deep in a conversation with one another. Amity also couldn't deny the feeling of dread in her heart though as she watched Luz with her mother, paranoia filling her as the thought of Luz leaving the place and returning home after delivering the baby consumed her mind.

Amity didn't know why she felt that way, Luz leaving would no doubt be the best for everyone. Amity and Boscha will most likely no longer fight about Luz anymore, Luz would be able to have a normal life again. But just the small idea of not being able to see Luz again or talk to her again made Amity feel her heart ache.

If given the chance, would Luz really leave Amity and their guys' child and return home? Luz would have a better life, not have to worry about the troubles of the court or Boscha—but on the other hand, Amity wouldn't even be able to see Luz again.

Her thoughts didn't last long though because the next thing she knew she was seated at the table with Luz and her mother, enjoying the fine meal she had prepared for the two of them—and everything Luz said about it was true. Amity definitely has to ask Luz's mother for the recipe so that her chefs can make it for her and Luz.

The night was filled with heartwarming laughter and smiles as Amity listened to the many stories Luz's mother shared of her on how Luz's life was in the village, how she sometimes helped the village butcher or orphanage most of the time, and even some times spend it at the local farm and help take care of the animals.

Even though life was not easy and Luz and her mother struggled, the two still managed to find the strength that helped both of them through it all—and Amuty admired that. She knew that her officials and other royals would never last if they lived in rags rather than riches.

That's what differentiated Amity from her parents. Her parents always viewed the people of the Boiling isle as peasants, nobodies, and nothing more, while Amity saw everyone as an equal. When she came to power, the first thing she did was have food banks built in every village across the entire kingdom, along with schools and shelters for the homeless. Amity was happy to see what she had done for her people had made everything better.

When Amity came to the village with Luz, seeing that nobody was scrounging for food or people sleeping on the streets anymore, and kids were attending the schools, they brought a smile to his face.
Her parents put themselves first before the people, and Amity put them first before herself.
