The sound of heavy boots echoed from somewhere around me.

With each passing second the sound grew nearer.

My heart thumped along with the noise.

This was the first sound I had heard in several hours.

Before that it had been utter silence. Even as I listened closely I could not hear anything.

No breathing, no talking, not even the sound of a mouse.

The boots stopped and a creaking sound came next.

Whoever had appeared was even closer now.

I tried to move only to find my hands restrained behind me.

I stretched my fingers out and they brushed against something rough on my wrists.

It had a string like texture but felt more secure.

I tugged at the bindings but they weren't budging.

"Hehe..." The laughter started out quiet before quickly evolving into something more.

It was maniacal.

"Look at you now..." The voice was dripping with malice.

Shivers travelled up my spine at the speakers voice.

The sound of footsteps continued closer to me before stopping.

"You seem a little tied down..." He remarked.

I didn't respond to his provocations and I was positive that would irritate him more.

I tried to move my legs but like my arms they were also bound together.

I could not see anything either.

I was surprised he hadn't gagged me as well but I imagined he wanted to get a rise out of me.

"You're that upset?" I asked calmly.

"Upset?" He asked a little surprised, "You think a mere girl like you could make me upset?" He laughed again.

I kept my mouth in a straight line.

"I'm not upset. I'm simply going to make sure you remember your place."

His boots clicked past me and I listened as things moved around behind me.
