Applejack groaned, dragging the wheel-barrel of pizza ingredients into the restaurant. She stopped when she reached the doors that led to the party room, hearing voices inside. The farm pony knocked. "Are ya'll in there? Ah could use some help!" She soon saw Rarity come around the bend, opening the glass doors. "Hello there Applejack! I am so glad you're here! There's something I must show you!"
The dress pony grabbed AJ's hoof, dragging her to the stage. A nerdish looking pony was standing there, smiling. "I am proud to present," he cleared his throat, beckoning to the closed curtain. "Fluttershy, Element of Kindness and wonderful friend to ponies and animals alike!" Applejack went pale. That's what was written on Fluttershy's tombstone. She quickly shook the thought out of her mind, and watched, wide-eyed, as a robotic Flutters skipped onto the stage.
The animatronic giggled, "Hi there! My name is Fluttershy! Let's eat!" AJ frowned. That wasn't like Flutters at all. Sure, the robot sounded just like her... But Fluttershy was NEVER that outgoing. "Don't you dare try to ruin this. I'll explain everything later, alright? For now, just watch the show." Rarity whispered harshly.
"Alright." Applejack sighed. "Next up, Rainbow Dash! Element of Loyalty and the bravest pony you would ever know!" AJ shifted uncomfortably at the mention of the gravestones again, but watched nonetheless. Out came Rainbow, an eyepatch covering her left eye, and a hook where her right fore hoof should have been. "ARRGH me mates, why don't I tell you all a story from the seven seas?"
Applejack's eyes went wide, her mouth agape. "Alright ah could sorta see the Flutters thing but... What they hay is this?!" Rarity coughed slightly, signaling for the farm pony to zip it. "No! You, Nerdy Pants, what the hay did ya'll do to Dash?" The stallion glared at her, but seeing how annoyed she was, explained anyway.
"All of them are made with different personalities, given that these-" He pulled out Rainbow's key. "Are the only four ever made. They're keys that give the animatronic a way of feeling. Without them, they would be... Nothing but hunks of metal, who could only follow orders and never feel for themselves."
Applejack lowered her head, nodding slowly for him to go on. He grinned as he continued. "Next up, Princess Twilight Sparkle! Element of Friendship, and magic. A grand leader and better friend to all!" AJ felt like just leaving, then and there. Couldn't they have used something that wasn't written on her friends GRAVES?! She glanced back up to see a unicorn, holding a guitar in her aurora, slide into the stage, singing as she rocked out, finishing it up with a "Yeah!"
The farm pony swallowed hard, not even knowing what to say to this. Don't say anythin', AJ. Just let the stallion talk. The nerd beckoned for the last pony to come onto the stage. "And, last but not least...." Applejack leaned in closer, even though she already knew who the last mare was. "Pinkie Pie, Element of Laughter and a super duper party pony who will make you laugh no matter what the stakes!"
The pink earth pony bounced onto the stage, giggling happily. "Hiya! My names Pinkie Pie! Come on mares, I wanna see you smile!" Applejack's eyes watered. This was the real Pinkie Pie that she knew. She wiped the tear away, refusing to cry. The stallion closed the curtain, seeing how emotional both AJ and Rarity were getting. "I need to go get things set up with the design team, but I'll be back to see you both soon." With a wave, he trotted out of the facility.
Applejack took a shaky breath, watching as Rarity followed the nerd pony, saying nothing. Now alone in the cold, empty pizzeria, AJ slowly made her way to the stage, pulling the curtain open. She stared at the motionless animatronics, wondering if they could hear her.
"H-howdy there." She started, staring at the dead eyes of her "friends". She sighed. "Ah wish Ah could like ya'll, really, Ah do. B-" She inhaled, worried that she would burst into tears at any moment. "But Ah miss my real friends. Wish they were here with me, ya know? Ah don't know if I'll ever get used to ya'll, and Ah'm sorry for that."
Right as the farm pony turned away, she was tackled to the ground by something hard, and metallic. She gasped, looking up in fear. Above her was Pinkie Pie, her blue eyes gone red. "I'm super sad that you don't like us anymore, Applejack." The party pony's voice, though the same, seemed more... Robotic than it was before.
Pinkie continued. "And I super duper hope that what I'm about to do to you will help you like the new us even more."
