The next morning, Vaani was standing in front of the mirror, drying her hair after her shower and chatting with Rekha, who was lying on the bed, playing with Gaurav.
Suddenly, Shivank called from the bathroom, “Vaani, towel dena yaar. I forgot.”
Vaani shook her head, grabbed a towel, and handed it to him. But as she did, Shivank grinned, holding onto her hand and winking playfully. He tried to pull her inside, but Vaani quickly pulled back, eyes wide.
“Shivank! Maa is here,” she whispered sharply, glancing over her shoulder.
Shivank peeked out, saw Rekha busy with Gaurav, and whispered, “Come on, she’s not looking. Just a quicky-makey,” he teased, giving her another wink and tugging her closer.
“Shivank!” she warned, eyeing him with mock annoyance. He responded with a puppy face, trying to win her over.
“Maasi, aap Shachu se kyun lad rahe ho?” Gaurav asked innocently, noticing their exchange. Before Rekha could turn and see, Shivank swiftly closed the bathroom door.
“Kya hua? Tum ladh rahi ho Shivank se?” Rekha asked, her eyebrows raised.
Vaani, flustered, answered, “Nahi, beta Guddu. I was just giving your Shachu his towel, nothing else,” nervously scratching her neck as she returned to drying her hair.
Gaurav tilted his head thoughtfully. “Maasi, aap Shachu ko sata rahi thi na? Bechare Shachu kuch maang rahe the, aur aapne no bol diya. Very bad, Maasi,” he scolded with the tone of a wise little adult.
Shivank, emerging from the bathroom in just his pants, grinned and swooped Gaurav into a warm hug. “Arre wah, mere Guddu! Door rehke bhi Shachu ka ladla hai tu!” He kissed Gaurav’s cheek, ruffling his hair.
“Mujhe jaldi se ek cousin bhai mile!” Shivank chuckled, rubbing noses with Gaurav, who burst into laughter.
“Haan haan,” Rekha teased, looking at Vaani. “Yeh teri Maasi ab tujhe bhai ya behen degi.”
