Sam was not a fan of planes she wasn't really sure where her "fear" of planes manifested from but one would expect with the amount of flying she does she'll learn to tolerate it a bit However, this was definitely not the case as her dislike for flying probably seems to have gotten worse overtime especially if she's headed back to London leaving Kristie behind back in New York."Sammi!" She felt a gentle shake that startled her awake. "Sam, wake up! We've landed." Slowly opening her eyes to see Mackenzie or Macca as most people will call her. "Huh? What?" Sam mumbled, still in a sleepy daze from being asleep for the entire flight.
"We've landed already. Now, get up before we leave you," Macca chuckled at her friend's confused state, giving her a gentle shove as she stood up to open the overhead bin where their bags were stored. Sam slowly rose from her seat, stretching out her limbs and letting out a yawn to wake herself up. Macca handed her bag from the overhead bin. "Here." "Thanks," Sam replied, grabbing her bag.
As they waited for their cue to leave the plane, she reached for her phone, frowning upon finding no connection, which left her a bit frustrated. "Relax, you'll get a connection once we're out," Alanna reassured her upon noticing the frown on her friend's face.
"Yeah," she replied sighing tiredly, slipping her phone back into her pocket and making her way up to the front of the plane to exit. As she prepared for the inevitable long line at immigration, she couldn't help but hope that at least Kristie was having a better day than her."
( a/n :the amount of self discipline i had to do to not make an are you having ok time reference)
Meanwhile at Red bull Arena,
Kristie let out a frustrated groan as she made her way off the pitch toward the rack of water bottles. Despite her team's 3-1 victory in the scrimmage, she had an unsettling anxious feeling lingering in her she woke up this morning. Normally, she would talk to Sam about it, but with her fiancée currently on a plane and unable to respond to all of her texts this cause the unsettling anxious feeling difficult to shake off.
"Good game, Kracth" Rose patted her back. "Mhm," she replied quietly, her mind elsewhere, absent from the moment as she nervously bit the bottom of her lip, which she tend to do when she felt nervous this doesn't goes unnoticed by Rose however, Worried for her friend, she asked "You okay?" Concerned plaster across her face, realizing how quiet Kristie has been the whole day, which was a departure from her usual loud and expressive self. Too quote the great Sam Mewis once said 'The Kristie who don't show emotions'
"Yeah, I'm good," she replied with a small smile, hoping Rose would drop the subject as she wasn't keen on discussing it at the moment. "Okay, but if you need anything," Rose trailed off, leaving the conversation open-ended for Kristie and assuring her that her door was always open for a chat or support before heading off. "Yeah I know, Thanks," Kristie replied quietly, sighing quietly as she places her bottle back on the rack and made her way to the tunnels to their locker rooms for a quick shower.
"Finally," Ellie exaggerate with relief as the bus taking them to their hotel finally started moving , Sam chuckled shaking her head at her seat-mate antics this is going to be a long ride for sure she thought to herself might as-well catch up on some sleep since apparently her sleep in the plane wasn't enough but just before she could doze off, she remembered she hadn't checked her phone.
Grabbing her phone, she saw a surprising 53 messages from Kristie, Ignoring the other notifications, Worried about what could have happened during her flight, she hoped it was just Kristie being her usual dramatic self which don't get her wrong she absolutely love Kristie dramatic personality. However, as she read through the messages, she felt a tiny surge of guilt, feeling terrible as she read through the rest of the messages, realizing Kristie was in distress and she couldn't be there to help her through it. She tried to call her but got no answered she had to assume that maybe she had fallen asleep as she figured the US team just finished their training.
