Thier friends knew, thier family knew, at this point everyone in the woso world probably knew about it since you can't hide those flirty instagram comments. So when the bronze medal match arrive and a heartbreaking loss for the maltidas, Sam was distraught she couldn't move her feet away from their field so she sat there, she just sat there felling awful about herself, she felt a few comforting tap in the shoulder feeling from her teammates and the US players but none of it helped how she felt.
But the she felt another one "Hey I'm here" she looked up and saw Kristie bending down near her.
"Kristie, it's fine, I'm fine, go celebrate with your team you deserve it" She tells her, but instead Kristie sat down next to her.
"They'll be fine without me" Kristie gave a small smile as they watched the US team return to the tunnel.
"How about you?" Kristie asks her. That was loaded question she felt a million things right now, she was distraught they were so close, she also felt happy, happy for Kristie she also felt bad that instead of celebrating with her teammates she's her with her while she wallows in her emotions.
"I just feel like I failed everyone" She admits.
"You didn't, you were amazing" Kristie assures her
"Not amazing enough I failed my teammates, I failed my country" She rambles

"Trust me they're proud of you, I'm proud of you" She smiled at her, Kristie lean in closer kissing her in the neck to comfort her as soon as Kristie lean back she leans closer almost lying down at Kristie but Kristie just hugged her allowing her to fell all her feelings. "No, but you should really celebrate with your team" She tells her no moving an inch
She looks around and realise it was only the two of them left in the middle of the field "I'm not leaving till you leave" Kristie replies "Believe me, I can stay her for weeks" she adds. Sam smiled she felt a surge of love Kristie could be celebrating right now but instead she's here with her, comforting her.
Sam too another few minutes before sitting back down "I think I need to talk with my team now, I'm the captain and I still have to do my job as captain" She tells her, Kristie smiled standing up and handing her two hands for her which she happily grab helping her stand up herself up. They both walk back to the tunnel back to their locker room with two different emotions in to it
They weren't aware right now but the moment they shared would be share to the rest of the world at that was the moment were everyone knew.
