The bus came to a halt at the top of my road. I walked down the blue spotted stairs and stopped on the path outside of the bus. I walked over to my usual crossing and waited for the lollipop lady to stop the traffic. I crossed the road, thanking the lady as I walked past. I walked down the usual alleyway and crossed the road just up from my house. I clocked the amount of cars outside the house on my way in. 2. Like always. Nothing changed. I walked through the gate and shut it before continuing up the path to our end of terrace house that I'd grown up in. I kicked off my shoes in our conservatory and placed my bad on the floor next to them. I walked through the kitchen and into the living room. I looked around. My Dad laid out on the sofa and my Mum asleep in her reclining armchair. I walked further and sat on the chair next to my Mum before my Dad looked up at me and asked me how my day was. I'd just got back from a school trip to a historic dockyard which was strangely fun. I told him all about it and hadn't noticed that my Mum had woken up. She looked at me with her usual friendly smile, though this time, it wasn't the happy smile I was used to. I smiled back then got up to get undressed from my school PE kit. I put on my pajamas before coming back downstairs and curling up with a blanket on the sofa. I sat there for ages just watching my Mums face whilst my Dad found a movie for us both to watch. This is how it had been for a year or so now, this was the new normal.
