My blaring alarm shattered the peaceful cocoon of sleep, forcing me to reluctantly drag myself out of bed. I wasn't exactly brimming with motivation, but the new job held the promise of exciting opportunities I couldn't afford to miss.
With a tired yawn, I made my way to the bathroom and turned on the shower, cranking up the heat to the point where it bordered on scalding. There was something oddly soothing about the burning sensation against my skin. Deciding to skip washing my hair to save time, I hurried through the rest of my morning routine, finishing with a quick tooth-brushing.
My wardrobe was a sea of black, which conveniently mirrored the dress code at the police department. Today, I opted for a pair of long, snug black jeans and a fitted, long-sleeved ebony tee that accentuated my figure. I completed the look with a long, charcoal-gray coat and a pair of black, tall Martens.
A quick swipe of lip gloss later, a doorbell chimed, signaling Namjoon's arrival.
Namjoon, in his customary all-black ensemble, radiated an air of stern authority. His dark attire was impeccably tailored, emphasizing his commanding presence, and there wasn't a trace of a smile to soften his sharp features.
"Morning," he greeted me, his voice as cool as the brisk morning air. "Early start today, Aisling."
I nodded, acutely aware of the chill not only in the atmosphere but also in his demeanor. "The new job demands it," I replied.
Namjoon gave a curt nod, his professional facade firmly in place. "Well, then, let's not keep the job waiting."
A minute later we got into Namjoon's huge car, that I always have to jump into because of my short persona.
"First, we will pay a visit to Min's ex wife," started Namjoon siping on his black coffee and driving at the same time. "I'm sure she would know something about his debts."
"Did they find a weapon?" I asked curiosly looking at the road in front of me. Seoul was suprisingly very busy despite early hour.
"No, It can be anywhere by this time. Down Seokchon or buried in the forest. Who knows." Namjoon murmured. "Oh, by the way I have bought you a coffee. It is at the backseat."
"Thank you, you didn't need..."
"We have a long day, I have you to have an open mind." he said smiling at me a bit. It was actually the first time a saw him smirking and i noticed he have dimples. How adorable.
I took a sip of my coffee figuring out that it has milk and sugar in it.
"Next time, I drink white without sugar." I said smiling a bit.
"Mouthy as always I see" he said driving into the driveway of a modern, big house.
Hidden behind a veil of towering trees and ornate wrought-iron gates, the modern mansion emerges like a palace from a fairy tale. The grand facade is a mesmerizing blend of sleek, contemporary architecture and old-world charm.
I have to admit I have never seen such a beautiful house in my life.
As we stepped out of the car, our arrival was already seen as we saw a tall man on the other side of the gate waiting for us.
"Mr. Kim?" asked a man with a low voice looking at Namjoon.
"Good Morning. Yes, Kim Namjoon, police department. We had an appointment with Ms Min."
The man that turned out to be a private security guy of Ms Min, opened the gate for us and guided us straight to the entrance of the house.
"Ms Min will be hear in a minute. Please settle down. Would you like something to drink? Coffee, tea?" asked black hair man with a slight smile on his face.
