As David sat on his old, partially torn sofa, watching the news, a story began to unfold. It was, of course, about his family's murder. "The location of Mary Nextorf's husband is currently unknown, but once found will be brought in for questioning. The authorities will take over after that. We'll be right back with more information after a word from our sponsor.", the Reporter spoke, as an advert popped up on the screen. David ignored it, and walked to his kitchen, mumbling. He had been up all night, several nights in a row, even before the incident. He felt his forehead, then pushed his hair back.. he gritted his teeth, then threw the nearest object into the wall. He shook his head, and knelt down to see what he had thrown. A framed picture of him and his wife.. smiling. There was a crack in the glass, separating them. He placed the picture away, and looked out the window as the sun began rising. David decided to take an early morning walk, before traffic took over. He pulled on his red flannel shirt, over a white tee, and pulled on some sneakers. He wiped his eyes, and took the elevator to the ground floor of his apartment building. As soon as the doors opened, he walked out of the building, and began walking down the street, his hands residing in his pockets. In his right pocket, he kept his hand on a knife he kept with him. David exhaled, the cold air creating steam, which soon dispersed. He saw a man being mugged, in an alley off to the side. David took his fists out of his pockets, leaving the knife. He grabbed the man, and threw him to the side, then dealt with the mugger. He broke his arms, and threw him against the wall, a slow trickle of blood crawling out of the mugger's nose. "Wh- who are you?", the man who was being mugged asked. "Doesn't matter..", David replied, as he tossed the man's belongings to him. He then walked off, out of the alley, and onto the sidewalk again. "This city is filthy...", David muttered, as he walked. Alone.

After a few more minutes, the man that David had saved from possibly being killed caught up to him. "Hey, wait! Mister!", the man called to David, who turned around, his eyes cold.. emotionless. "What do you want..?", David replied to the man. "The way you fought back there... my organization could really use your help.", he spoke. "How so?", David asked. "You took out that mugger without any hesitation- the organization I work for is a crime-fighting union. We work as one unit to solve cases and stop crime.", the man replied. "Hmm.. you asked my name back there, right?", David asked. "Mhm. You said it didn't matter.", the man responded. "I'm David Nextorf. You probably heard of my wife and children on the news..", he answered. "Ah. Nice to meet you, David. I'm sorry for your loss.", the man spoke, "I'll help you to avenge your family.. I promise. I'll have to talk to the leader about it, but I'm sure he'll do it." David followed the man, who had introduced himself as Adrian, into the inner city. They went through several alleys and down several back-roads, taking multiple shortcuts. They eventually reached a set of stairs leading downwards. There was then a rusty metallic door, with a 'Danger High Voltage' Sign on it. "This looks more like a gang hideout than a crime-fighting organization..", David remarked. "That's what we were going for. That way the other gangs around this part of town don't bug us.", Adrian replied. He held the door for David, who walked inside, and began looking around. "Doesn't seem like much..", David commented, again. "Secret Doors. Heard of them?", Adrian chuckled, pulling a book, with a transparent thread tied to it. It triggered a wall panel to slide open, revealing a metal door with several scanners on it. "I'll get you in. Take a seat, and relax.", Adrian instructed. David took a seat on the red couch near the book shelf. Adrian was busy with retina scans, fingerprint scans, and even a machine that required you to pick your nose to find DNA. Adrian slid a keycard, and the metal door opened slowly. "Right this way!", Adrian spoke, as David got off the couch, and followed Adrian through. Adrian slid his keycard again, and the door closed, faster than before. "What's that sound?", David asked, obviously confused by all this. "Electricity runs right above our heads.", Adrian said, answering David's question.

"Woah..", David was astonished, as he looked around the training area. "Impressed? We did all of this in a few months. Planning took one month, and two more months were used for building.", Adrian explained, "We have all sorts of things here. You can leave whenever you want, but you'll have to return your keycard. You'll get that soon, don't worry. Go ahead and start training. We'll see what you can do on a training mission tomorrow." David nodded, and went to begin training, removing his flannel. He went to a training dummy first. He literally decimated it.

David shook hands with Adrian, and began walking to his apartment so he could film his Video Journal. It was something he did, in case his minor case of amnesia acted up again. "Hey David tomorrow. Yesterday you watched the news. The reporter was describing the death of your family. That same day you took a walk, got breakfast, and joined a crime fighting force that will help you avenge your family. Don't forget to stop by the grocery store, and get some bread. Oh, and also, do the laundry. Thanks!", David finished recording, and sighed, leaning back in his chair. He got up, and ate some leftover chinese food. Some spring rolls, and General Tso's tofu. He looked at a picture of his family, and wiped his eyes.. then went to bed. After a few hours of quiet, there was a crash. Someone was breaking in! David quietly got up, and grabbed his baseball bat. He wasn't wearing much. Just his white T-shirt and gym shorts he didn't use anymore. When the person's footsteps grew close to his bedroom door, he threw it open, and began beating the intruder senseless.. He stopped, leaving him alive. "Wh- Who- Y-...", the intruder stuttered, and eventually blacked out. He sent him in an elevator down to the first floor, and went back to get some long awaited sleep. David had a big day ahead of him tomorrow... he had to be ready.
