Epilogue

Amy's POV

I knocked on the door. Once. Twice. A third time. I heard nothing from inside the house so I raised my hand to knock a fourth time, but the door was pulled open from underneath my knuckles. I blinked in shock and gave a small jump but instantly relaxed when I saw the face and heard the voice of William Sorenson.

"Amelia! Welcome back! Come in!"

He ushered me through the door in his slightly frantic, bubbly way. He seemed absoultely overjoyed to see me and honestly, it was a relief to see him as well.

"You're just in time for tea!" he exclaimed. "I'll just -"

"I'm sorry, Will, I can't stay long."

I guess my voice had sounded absolutely miserable because he looked at me with a confused expression. He pushed his glasses up on his nose slightly. "Is everything okay?"

I didn't reply right away, but soon composed myself. I took a deep breath. "You might be in danger."

Will furrowed his eyebrows. "Danger...?"

I shook my head. "I can't explain right now, it would take too long. He'll realize I'm gone -"

"Amelia, what are you talking about?"

"Please, don't ask me what's going on. Just trust me."

"I can't trust you if you don't help me out here." He smiled. "I want to be here for you, but you need to open up."

I felt myself start to choke up. I was frantic and worried and I decided that I cared about these people. But I knew that they were targets. My father thought I had already killed them and for the time being I was able to convince them that I had and that he shouldn't double check, but it was only a matter of time before I knew he would.

"You're in danger."

"Amelia, I need more than that."

"You need to get out of the country."

"This is my daughter's life you're talking about. Please, you must tell me what's going on."

I took a deep breath, deciding that it would be for the best. After all, if they did leave the country, I probably wouldn't ever see them again. This was it. "Don't hate me afterwards."

Will smiled sympathetically. "I would never hate you, Amelia. You're family."

"Voldemort - You-Know-Who - he wants to kill you. You're a target."

Will furrowed his eyebrows.

"Your wife - my mother..." I trailed off, not really knowing how to phrase it. So I reconstructed my thoughts and came out with, "Voldemort is my father."

Will's mouth dropped open. It was slightly comical but he was seriously in shock.

"I'm sorry - I should have told you before. I knew who my father was and I'm - I'm -" I tried to force away tears. "I'm on his side. I hate it but I have to or he'll kill me. And he'll kill you." I felt tears escape my tightly shut eyes. "Before... he sent me to kill you. That's why I came to talk to you, but I - I saw Sammy and I couldn't do it - I'm so sorry -"

I opened my eyes and Will had moved closer to me. I flinched away, jerking my head backwards involuntarily, expecting him to attack me or something, but Will didn't hit me or draw out his wand. Instead he took my hand.

"You have nothing to apologize for. It's not your fault."

This was still overwhelming. I was used to a father who wouldn't hesitate to kill me on the spot.

I took a shaky breath, looking down and unable to meet his eyes. "He thinks you're dead. I had to lie but it's only a matter of time before he finds out. You need to get out of the country and take Sammy with you. Please - I would never forgive myself if something happened to either of you."

Will smiled, pulling me in for a tight hug. "Thank you, Amelia. Don't worry about us, we'll stay safe. Thank you for the warning." He paused, chuckling. "And for not killing us before."

I let out a laugh despite myself.

"Now you get home," Will said. "And remember, if you need a place to stay, we'll be here. Or - no, we'll be out of the country somewhere."

I smiled.

"You stay safe too, okay?"

I nodded and began to leave. Before I opened the door, I turned around and looked back at Will. "Will - I... thank you."

I wanted to say more. I kind of had a whole speech planned out in my head too, but the minute I felt myself get emotional I felt the need to cut it short. "Thank you," I said again.

Will smiled. "Any time, Amelia. Good luck."
