CHAPTER 29

"Hey, are you alright?"

I looked at Mike, who knitted his brows. "Yeah," I nodded.

"You look off?"

"Let's just do this, okay." I snapped.

"You got it, pretty wolf." He winked with a charm that bizarrely drove me nuts. "Don't worry, I'll take it easy on you."

Suddenly, I charged at him head on. Was it me or my wolf urging me forward? I wasn't quite sure. I didn't know my wolf that well, and the lines between her and me got blurred. My hands hurtled against Mike's bare chest in a brutal force, and he jerked backwards, stumbling on his feet.

"Whoa," Mike chuckled. "Someone got their fur ruffled."

"You have no idea," I seethed and pushed him forcefully again. The encounter with Alice still lingered at the back of my mind, like a contrite headache. The only emotion sharp as a knife coursing through my body was rage that strangely triggered tingles between my thighs.

Mike nodded deliberately, accepting the challenge I posed for him. "I won't hold back, Zoey," he said in a warning with haughty eyes.

I shook my head. "I never asked you, too."

I didn't know what the hell was wrong with me. But I felt bold as fuck and my wolf relished in it.

Mike made the first move, testing my reflexes with a quick jab to my left side. I swiftly evaded and retaliated with a series of lightning-fast strikes that Mike nimbly blocked.

Damn! I cursed. Mike was too good that he anticipated my every damn move. But I didn't care as I lashed out all I had!

"You're a little firecracker today, aren't you?" he teased with a scrunch of his nose. This asshole thought I couldn't hurt him. Thought he was better than I was. Well, fuck him... and fuck Alice, too! Various emotions exploding inside me.

I said nothing, only a tense growl escaped my throat that my wolf forced out, raising Mike's curious brow. Instantly, I darted left, then right, aiming to throw him off balance. But with a smooth sidestep, he dodged my advance, countering with a well-timed sweep that instead caught me off guard as he grabbed me from the back and held my arms tight against his muscled and smooth chest.

He didn't even break a sweat as he tugged me closer against his warm skin. My ass almost brushing over his groin. But something else charged my wolf at this heated moment. Rage... and fucking arousal! I didn't want the feelings rising as my breath quickened, unable to control my untamed emotions. Suddenly, Mike stopped moving and sniffed the air, drawing his nose closer to my hair.

"How many times do I have to tell you to wear a damn shirt?!" I yelled, knocking the back of my head into his nose, recovering swiftly as he released my arms.

Mike scrunched his eyes in thought and opened his mouth to speak. But I didn't give him the chance as I intensified my attacks, my strikes becoming bolder and more unpredictable. He could feel the heat of the challenge rising within me, the primal urge to fight him or to do something kinkier.

But Mike didn't fully attack me. He didn't even bother to block my blows, angering me more. The lines between trainer and trainee blurred. The black pupils deepened as he sniffed the air again.

"Damn," he murmured in a slight trance. "Your scent is sweet."

"Fight me, Mike!" I yelled at him, striking punches on his damn chest that knocked him back slightly.

"What the hell is going on here?" Brett hollered as he glanced between Mike and me.

Finally, Mike blocked my blows and grasped my arms from punching him further. He smirked wickedly and darted his face closer to mine. His lips inched towards me — trying to steal a kiss!
