Tony gave the alien an amicable smile. “Oh you know, I was thinking I could pass around some chocolates, have a few beers, get some babes in here and really just go for it.”

The Doctor smiled at him. “Oh yes, yes, you do that. Reminds me of a certain time with Mother Teresa actually…” he coughed. “But uh, that’s a different story. Different universe in fact.” He paused, reviewing his words. “Yep.”

Natalia stepped forward and slammed her hands on the desk. “Enough!” Even though the Doctor had clearly stopped speaking.

He gave her an amused look. “Oh, okay. What do you want to talk about?” He enquired to the spy clad in black.

“Who are you? How many of them are you? What is your reason for coming here?”

He gave her an odd look. “Didn’t I say? I’m the Doctor. Uh, there’s one of me. Or ten. Uh,” he looked at her worriedly. “Not anymore, I mean, there has been ten… Um… Forget it. There’s one of me. Yep. Just good old me. The Doctor. Ummm. Reason? Trouble with my ship. Poor thing, she’s been a bit overworked and all that, and I guess my redecorating just messed with her a bit.” He stopped talking then, and waited.

Natalia straightened and took a step back from the table hosting the odd Doctor, and looked at Tony, who shrugged.

“So…you’re an alien?”

The Doctor frowned. “I guess. I mean, from your point of view certainly. From mine, you’re the aliens.” He smiled at them, inviting them to join the joke. Tony shrugged again, pulling up a chair and sitting on it backwards in front of the Doctor, leaning his chin on the back of the chair.

“Right. So. No plans to invade the earth?”

“Oh no. No, no, no, no, no.” The Doctor repeated cheerfully. “Just sightseeing, until my TARDIS is ready to go. Can I have her back, by the way? She gets a bit temperamental without me.”

Bruce finally chipped in. “She’s being studied.” And Bruce was itching to join them. Sure, talking to an alien was cool, but that tech… And he knew that Tony felt the same.

Natalia frowned at her companions. “And even if she wasn’t, we’re not just going to hand it over to you.”

The Doctor let his face fall. “Ah. Don’t you trust me?”

Natalia raised an eyebrow. “No.”
