The sleek limousine seemed to echo our tensions as it glided through the city, each swish of the tires beneath us matching the rising and falling waves of our argument.

"Why can't you ever just listen to me, Valentina?" Demetrius' voice was heavy, frustration evident in his tone. "I told you we needed to leave, but you always think you know better."

I chuckled, my attempt to lighten the mood falling flat. "Come on, Demetrius, we never got caught! Where's the fun in always following the plan?"

The silence that followed was icy, and the weight of it pressed down on me like a ton of bricks. Demetrius was different, the quiet type, someone who took life very seriously. And here I was, his opposite, dancing in the sunlight, challenging the shadows he held so dear.

"I didn't mean to be so harsh," Demetrius said, his grumpiness giving way to an unfamiliar vulnerability. "I just worry about you."

His admission caught me off guard, and I reached out to touch his hand, I always find myself so comfortable around him and that touching his hand seems so normal.

"Demetrius, you don't need to apologize. I know you care about me. I just..." I had no words which was weird.

What I did was wrong I should have stuck with the plan but I didn't - maybe I wanted to be caught and get the freedom I so desire or maybe I just enjoyed the little specs of attention Demetrius would give me.

The limousine turned a corner, and for the first time, Demetrius met my gaze, his eyes showing a hint of regret. "I should have trusted your instincts more, Valentina."

I smiled,"It's okay, Demetrius. We all have our flaws."

I stop talking and he raises an eyebrow.

"Anything else Val?" He adds.

"Nope." I end up laughing and he sits there glaring knowing that I have more to say.

"I promise I'll try to listen more, actually I pinky promise and that's the most important type of promise known to mankind"

Demetrius nodded and takes his pinky out we interlink and a small shiver takes control.

A small but genuine smile tugged at the corner of his lips.

The Limo became quiet again and so I decided to do what I do best- be annoying.

I leaned over to Demetrius, who sat there in his customary stoic manner, his sharp suit accentuating his stern demeanor.

"Demetrius," I chirped, "you know what this limo needs? A disco ball! Can you imagine us dancing the night away in here?"
