(TW!!! Descriptions of gore)

"I assume you've had a good nights rest?" Eva questioned stirring the cup of coffee that sat infront of her.

"Mhm." Damon vaguely hummed.

"Breakfast is really good today isn't it?"

"Yeah."

"Damon, you're not even eating breakfast."

Snapping back into reality, Damon turned his focus to the untouched plate of food infront of him. He had been too focused on other things to even worry about his appetite.

"Eat, will you? You skipped dinner last night." Eva urged pushing his plate closer to him.

"I'm not hungry."

And he wasn't. The constant stress over who was going to be the next victim overcame any thought of food in his mind. There were better things to worry about other than eating.

"Are you not tired, either?" Eva gestured to his very visible eye bags.

"How can you sleep peacefully in a situation like this?"

"Nobody's sleeping peacefully, but at least they're getting some kind of rest. You on the other hand..."

He couldn't sleep. It was impossible for him to do so. Every night the thought of finding another brutalized dead body kept him up. If he told himself to not worry then he'd only be setting himself up for disappointment and heartbreak.

"Well, if you're not going to eat. Do you mind joining me in the library?" Eva asked.

"I don't mind."

The library was usually empty. Ulysses was one of the only people to go there. Now the only footsteps that went beyond that door was Eva. Occasionally, Damon went along with her.

Standing patiently, Eva watched Damon slowly get up from his chair and dump all the contents on his plate.

"At least take one bite." She enjoined.

"I'm fine, Eva. Let's just go."

He wasn't fine; Far from it in fact. But he couldn't let anyone see him this vulnerable. What if someone took that as an opportunity to behead him as they did to Jett?

What if someone tricked and lured him as they did to Eloise?

What if someone spread his blood all over the halls as they did to Grace?

"I know we've both agreed on being wary of others, but you're being too paranoid for your own good." Eva nonchalantly expressed her worry for him.

"There's no such thing as being too paranoid in a situation like this."

"...That's what I used to think too."

Damon stared at her in confusion. Did Eva suddenly switch up on the whole not trusting others thing? Why didn't she tell him? Was Eva just using him?

Was Eva planning to kill him?

"There you go again." Eva scrunched up her nose in frustration.

Damon, being distrustful, took a few steps away from her.

"Are you serious? You think I wanna kill you?"

"I'm taking precautions—"

"Oh God, help me!!" A small shriek erupted from the direction the two had left from not long ago.

Without a second thought, Damon rushed to the kitchen. He needed to stop whatever was happening. He couldn't take another dead body. He wouldn't let it happen again.
