Zhongli had been coming home late recently due to work and it was starting to worry me.
He was always busy with something, considering he's the CEO of his company. Either someone had something to complain about, an employee pitched a new idea that needs attended to, or something else generally bother-able.

Every night, he'd come home to dinner that had been ready for a while and had turned cold. We'd rarely talk to each other as he was always at work and when he arrived back home I'd already be asleep. I always prepared dinner for him just in case he'd come home earlier, but that still hasn't happened.

Honestly, I can't remember the last time we've spent the day together, or just any quality time together in general. I know he works hard for the home and things we have, but still, I miss him.

I was cleaning up the house a bit so my husband wouldn't feel as much stress from it being somewhat messy. I cleaned the counters, dusted, washed the sheets, every little thing. Hopefully this'll make him somewhat relieved.

Once I finished cleaning everything, I took a long shower and tidied myself up as well. I decided to treat myself after all my hard work. I gave myself a little boost of confidence, as well. I did my hair, my skincare, and put on some cute pajamas. It's been awhile since I've taken care of myself like this, and it made me feel a lot better.

I went into the kitchen to make some tea and a little treat. I decided to bake some cookies as the tea was brewing. I've always had a passion for baking, and I would say I'm rather good at it.

As I was getting out my ingredients I heard a car in the driveway. Zhongli should still be at work.. maybe I'm just hearing things. I ignored it but no less than 5 seconds later the front door opened. To my surprise, my husband was the one in the doorway.

I immediately smiled and went up to him.
"Zhongli! I thought you were supposed to be at work?" I said as I hugged him.

"Hi, honey. I figured that I'd take the rest of the week off to spend time with you. I've been working so much that we haven't been spending much time together so, I thought this would be nice." He said with a light smile

I smiled back at him. "I'm so glad you're here. I was just about to bake some cookies if you'd like to help me!" I said to him with an excited tone. His smile stayed and he complied. He took off his shoes and set his things down.

I went to the kitchen and continued getting my ingredients. I set them all down and began mixing everything together. Zhongli watched me in awe.

He came up behind me and wrapped his hands around my waist. "You look beautiful, my dear." He suddenly said. I smiled at his compliment and kissed his cheek.

I got some flour on my hand and teasingly put some on his nose. He sneezed because of my action and I couldn't stop myself from laughing. He smiled and put some frosting on his finger, putting it on my cheek.

I gasped playfully and did the same to him. He started chasing me around the house to get me back, and I tried to run faster but my laughing was slowing me down.

He caught up to me and put a hand around my waist. We were both laughing a lot, it was a moment I know I'll think about constantly. He put some frosting on my lips teasingly, then kissed me. I savored the moment as we haven't had a moment like this for awhile.

He looked at me full of love and adoration, and I did the same to him.

I placed the cookies on a plate as he sipped on his tea. I took a cookie and placed it in his mouth. He took a bite of it and seemed to like it a lot.
"It's delicious, dear." He said. I smiled at his comment and sat on the counter, taking a cookie for myself.

He then came up to me a hugged me around my waist. I wrapped my arms around his neck as he did so.

"I'm sorry for not being available.. I promise I'll do everything in my power to make more time for you. I just want to be able to give you everything you need, I want to give you anything and everything to make you happy."

I smiled gently at his words.

"Just you being here makes me the happiest I can be. Your company is more than enough, my love. I know you work hard for us, but you need to take more breaks. Not only for my sake, but for yours as well. I don't want you overworked."

He nodded at my words and continued hugging me. We stayed like that for a while, savoring the sweet moment.

Later on, I started working on dinner as Zhongli was showering. I couldn't stop smiling the whole time I was cooking because I knew this time he'd be here with me, that made me happy.

I set up the plates and utensils as the food was cooking, then Zhongli came downstairs. He walked up to me, kissed my cheek, then continued cooking the dinner for me without saying a word.

"Love, I can do it. It's okay." He said knowing that I was going to protest to it. I didn't want him to do much on his break, but regardless, he was going to do it for me anyway.

He finished cooking not long later and we both ate together. It was a nice feeling being able to do this with him after some time. I finished my meal before him, and rested my head on his shoulder. He smiled and continued eating as we made regular conversation.

The night went by quickly yet slowly at the same time. Now, we were in bed and Zhongli was reading his book. I sat on his lap as he did so, styling his hair in different ways. I braided it, put it in ponytails which he definitely didn't like, but he was okay with it. He liked the feeling of me playing with his hair, it soothed him.

I carefully watched as he flipped each page, as he adjusted his reading glasses from time to time, and how focused he was on the writing. I laid my head on his chest as he read. I gently traced my finger along his chest as I did so, making the both of us relaxed. I grew more and more tired and before I knew it, I was dozed off.

He noticed my sudden stillness and looked at my sleeping frame. He smiled gently and marked the page in his book before putting it on the nightstand. He turned off the light and wrapped his arms around me, kissing my head.

"I love you."
