Ash made his way down several floors within the Rocket Base. As he did, he noticed the pokeball containing his newly caught Meowth was shaking like crazy. Ash assumed that the scratch catch was trying to get out but knew that the odds of the way to do so without a training sending them out was almost impossible.
Ash: (Father clearly knew this Meowth could already talk like a human. But how did he learn to speak? Did Namba do something?)
Eventually, he arrived at Dr Nambas lab upon entering he saw Namba yelling at two Rocket Agents. He didn't know these two but did hear their names. Cassidy and Butch.
Namba: I DONT HAVE TIME FOR MORE FAILURES CASSIDY, BIFF SO GO AND THIS TIME DONT SCREW IT UP.
Cassidy and Butch: YES, DR SOMBA
Butch: *mutters under his breath* and its Butch Sir
Namba: ITS NAMBA
Ash: *walks past Cassidy and Butch as they run out of the room* Dr Namba, my father, said you had a mission for me.
Namba: *turns too Ash* Ah Ash indeed I do you are familiar with Professor Oak correct?
Ash: I've never met him, but I am familiar with why?
Namba: He has research that will be a huge assistance to my work.
Ash: So you want me to steal this research?
Namba: Indeed, you most likely saw Cassidy and Bill just now that they are to join you. Break into Oaks lab. The way to do so is yours to decide.
Ash: Any other targets?
Namba: nothing of absolute importance, but if you find any pokemon within the lab, bring them here but do not risk Amy pokemon in the back garden.
Ash: As you wish, by the way, I do have a question about a pokemon.
Namba: I suppose I have time for 1 quick QNA. What is it?
Ash: *pulls out the pokeball containing Meowth* My starter pokemon is a Meowth who can speak like a human. Was this your work?
Namba: Hmm, I wish I could say it was, but this Meowth was able to talk before he ever came here and won't share how it happened. If you don't mind, I'd like to know anything you find out on missions. Perhaps we can use him to teach other pokemon human communication.
Ash: As you wish, but what do I have to work with besides those two who just left?
Namba: *hands Ash a case* Everything you need is in here. I have made it clear to Cassidy and Biff that you are the leader of this mission
Ash simply nodded, though he still didn't have the answer he saught. He thought about asking his father if he knew how Meowth could speak. However, Ash also knew Giovanni was a very busy man, so figuring it could wait until after the mission Ash left the base upon being told Cassidy and Butch would meet him on Veridean City.
Whilst travelling through Veridean Forest, Ash found a small out of the way clearing where he could inspect what was inside the case Namba had given him.
Inside was the following items:
Civilian clothing, including:
- a black shirt, grey jeans, and a blue and white jacket
- a hat with a pokeball on it
- a backpack
- and a regular pair of trainers
Inside the case was also:
- falsified documents to swap with the real research
- a pair of high-tech binoculars to spy on the lab with
- five standard pokeballs marking a small hardly visible R on them.
- as well as a run down on some of the pokemon that would most likely be inside the lab
