But it was a broken beauty

I'm not as broken as I used to be
Because you were right there for me
You helped me see so many things
That I couldn't see if I tried
I didn't believe enough in myself
Until you said the words
That fixed my wounded soul.
Somedays I feel like I can fly
I can do anything if you're by my side
And some days I worry
If I'm too much for you
If there's just too much you feel like I have to do
To be okay and not fly away
Back to who I used to be.
I was a broken beauty
Full of scars
Not on my skin
But on my soul, in my heart
The memories have begun to fade
But you haven't gone away
I thought I'd lost you more than once
I guess it's been pure luck
Or maybe something a little more
That keeps us the way we are.
