what happened, helios?
you shone so bright
you melted my skin,
mercilessly

why, i thought it was you, apollo,
guiding me through the dark,
lending me some light, a vision,
some delight

yet what i found was a sinful blight,
upon my impetuous sight,
my unready heart, still beating to your sweet melody,
mistook the burning fire
for a divine ray of light.

thus i longed for its heat,
a warm embrace to conceal my falling bits,
an arm to hold onto as i spoke whatever it is i speak,

i lost against it,
i became lost, stray, gone!
a deceiving light is worse than a foreign dark
