They were two very busy weeks for me, after several days you can find the person who notified the authorities, a cafe employee who saw us leaving after the old man and was worried that we might do something to him, a story so easy to discredit that my wife was laughing while I left him like a liar in front of a judge.
I also had to make some calls although luckily Saikou Corp gave me everything I needed to get my wife out of prison, I had access to the security cameras, the police reports, the journalist's contacts and actions, as well as data Regarding the judge and the prosecutor at the trial, everything was perfect for my performance.
An indecisive first-time judge along with a boring old prosecutor coupled with an unreliable witness and the testimony of an old man with a black past in Japan literally couldn't ask for an easier scenario to win.
I was visiting Ryoba every day during those two weeks so that she wouldn't feel alone, at the same time that I felt better being with her, we were never separated and the nights away from her broke my heart.
Finally the expected day arrived, I made sure to prevent the press from creating a media circus with the case so I wouldn't have any more problems.
At the same time that I called and wrote to Ayano often to see how she was doing, every day she sounded more natural, more alive, with more feelings, which I'm glad about even though the conversation was about a boy she met at Akademi.
Although luckily my sister was taking care of her, which calms me down, apparently the boy was the leader of the Akademi martial arts club, a boy that my sister described as a friendly hero, which interested me, although it was not the time to get into trouble. my daughter's love life, I must save my beautiful wife.
Finally the day of the trial arrived, it was in the morning in a closed courtroom so it was only me, the lawyer, the judge, the prosecutor, two police officers, Ryoba, the journalist, two unreliable witnesses and a small group who the jury preceded.
The trial began with a weak blow from the young and inexperienced judge who began with a reading of the facts to later give rise to the statements of each side.
First came the journalist:
-Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, as you see, I am an old man who had to flee his native country to save his life, all because this woman who I discovered was a serial killer, pursued me to murder me and thus hide her crimes.
-I protest -Said the lawyer -You cannot accuse Mrs. Aishi with statements that occurred in Japan, which Ladies and gentlemen of the jury were dismissed and labeled as lies by a Japanese judge thirty years ago.
-That doesn't matter, what matters is that that woman tried to kill me and she would have done it if I hadn't had that tracker that a friend in the police gave me and the timely call from that waiter.
-Excuse your honor, but it is worth clarifying that according to New York law, the private use of security agency tools is prohibited, so the question arises if the authorities were not investigating it because she had that tracker.
"Let the first witness come in," the judge said with a trembling voice.
-Mr. Wiliam, remember that you are under oath, so answer with complete certainty because I am calling the police.
-Because both people seemed to have an interest in the accuser, which worried me, so I called the police.
-And tell me his other warning calls were also out of concern or perhaps they were just an immature game from a person who has achieved nothing in life.
-What are you talking about, lawyer.
-Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, according to an investigation carried out by my clients, Mr. Wiliam has been fined three times for making false alert calls to the authorities in the last two months.
-What about the knife that the woman had when she was arrested, said the prosecutor, finally breaking out of his silence.
-The knife was plastic, without any edge, just a toy -Said the lawyer, obviously no officer saw me when he entered his evidence vault and changed the knife for another.
-Let the second witness come in -The judge said, intrigued.
"Tell us, Mr. Roberts, what you saw," the judge said in a monotone voice.
-The truth is that I didn't see much, other than the accused and the accuser walking close to each other.
-He is saying that he did not see anything suspicious about the accused.
-No sir.
"No more questions, your honor," the prosecutor said in a whisper.
The journalist was about to speak when the jury finally stopped and gave the signal he was waiting for, we will take a break to deliberate and give a verdict, they said.
By this time the trial had already been won, in the room where the jury began to deliberate I left several folders with the journalist's story, everything bad he has done and a special emphasis on the moment in which he tried to put the jail for my husband as well as the little manipulated evidence of the alleged attempted murder, a scene so surreal worthy of Hollywood.
I approached my wife and kissed her calmly while she looked at me happily.
-I told you honey, she would get you out of here.
-I love you darling.
-And I you.
Finally the jury entered the room with a calm face and an envelope in their hands.
"What has the jury decided?" The judge said with intrigue.
-Your honor, after analyzing the evidence and taking a look at the background of both parties, we have decided to declare Miss Ryoba Aishi innocent of all charges, alluding to the accuser's strange obsession with the accused and the long list of problems that the accuser has proven, leaving as a result that everything is the product of an attempt by the accuser to take revenge on the accused for sinking her career as a journalist based on lies.
-According to the verdict and what was seen in the trial, by the power granted to me by the city of New York, I declared at this time the accused Ryoba Aishi innocent of all charges, who must be released as soon as possible -He gave a strong blow with the hammer sealing the sentence.
As soon as I heard it, Ryoba and I hugged each other while the journalist left the court furious and terrified with the last strength he had left. It took all day but we had finally won the trial.
