A harmless trip overseas to negotiate for a prisoner's release ended up turning into a 2 week fight for survival for poor Hetty.
She wasn't hurt too badly, but she hadn't slept good in those 2 weeks, and she smelled awful. All she really wanted was a shower, and a long rest.
'Oh, I forgot to tell you, Granger lost his voice today, and he's been resting all day.' Nell said.
'Really? Now my sweetheart can't even talk to me tonight!' Hetty quietly mumbled.
After a long shower, she went to the bedroom where Owen was waiting for her in bed.
'I know you lost your voice, so if it hurts to talk, just stay silent. I just, really need to rest!' She said after crawaling in.
'You smell really good.' Granger scribbled on a pad of paper.
'Thanks. Took almost an entire bar of soap to get rid of the stink of that awful place.'
'Eat much?'
'Well, the hospital fed me. Well actually, Mr. Callen brought in a pizza, which was really good! Other then that, I wasn't fed more then 1 or 2 good meals in 2 weeks.'
'Want a hug?'
Softening up, Hetty practically fell into his arms.
'Ohhhhh. (sniff). It was so awful! Hearing other prisoners crying out in pain, being kept awake by the noise or pain from torture, dreading whenever 1 of the guards walked in. Mmmmmm. (burying her nose in his side.' Hetty confessed, trying to hold back tears.
Feeling like he was about to cry himself, Owen gently rubbed her arm and muttered, 'It's okay, it's okay.'
'You know what got me through the worst? Thinking of you, your warm embraces, the way your nose twitches when you're trying not to laugh or smile, the way you just soften up whenever I'm in trouble, and a few other things.'
Smiling, Owen then scribbled down: 'I missed you too. Anything I can do?'
'Mmm. Why don't we just start with, getting through the night?' Hetty asked.
Owen nodded in agreement.
The next morning.
'Good morning, sunshine.' Granger said when Hetty woke up.
'Morning! Nice to finally hear your voice.' Hetty sleepily responded.
'Just wanted you to know that, I love you, and as long as I'm still here, I will try my hardest to be your light in the darkness.' You're the same with me.'
Feeling like the luckiest woman in the world, Hetty kissed him, and thanked him for loving her so deeply.
