London, my dreamland!
It was come to my surprise that I could finally go to a place that I’ve always dreamed of. I’ve never been as happy as now. Since mum and dad are officially divorced, I and mum have to move to London because apparently she has a new job here. My mother used to work as a counselor for children but suddenly a wise man asked my mum to work with him in his office. Meanwhile, my dad has now married to other woman, and I don’t even care about it. I don’t want to remember every single thing about dad, because when I do, I always end up crying. Well, that’s enough about my parents.
And me? I’m Sarah. I’m just an ordinary girl who loves music. I live by it and I live for it. By the way, I have to go to a new school. Ugh, I wish I could go with my old friends. Bella, Gemma, Hera, Elise, and Olivia, I missed them so much! I have to tell them about my first day of school as soon as I get back home today.
London International High School
I take a deep breath, throwing away all the spazzy feeling and nervousness, and then I let out a long sigh.
“Have a nice day, hunny!”, says mum with a friendly smile that she always gives to me. But behind that smile, I know the pain that she’s hiding inside. The pain when dad used to slap her face whenever she’s doing something that dad thinks is wrong, the pain when dad used to argue with mum about every single thing, the pain in the past. I smile a little and wave at her as she drives the car away until she’s gone from my sight. I walk towards the main door with my headsets on and head bowed to the ground. I sometimes kicked smooth pebbles along the way. And before I knew it, I have stood in front of a middle-aged woman smiling friendly to me.
“Welcome Sarah, I’m Jane, the vice principal. It’s nice to see you coming today”, says the middle-aged woman who calls herself Jane.
“Thank you. It's nice to see you too Mrs. Jane”, I pull my headsets off as I realize it’s still hanging in my ears. To my relief, I’m glad I didn’t turn the volume up to the max.
She then takes me for a little trip around school. She tells me about the school activity, rules, and stuffs. I pretend to listen to her while I'm actually admiring the abstract paintings that are hanging on the wall. My attention is distracted when suddenly my phone rings really loud. Dang, I forgot to set it on silent mode. I pull it out of my pocket to see who is calling. It’s Bella. For God’s sake! Why does she have to call me in the wrong time? Bloody time zones!
“And... No cell phone usage during class”, warns Mrs. Jane.
“I’m sorry, my mother calls”
She nods and lets me have a space to talk with ‘mum’. I have to lie because it’s the only way to take an excuse.
“Bella, please! Not now!” I whisper as I click the answer button.
“How was your first day of school? I’ve missed you! I and Dicky have just broken up so I want to talk to you to make me feel better” Bella says in a broken raspy voice.
I glance at Mrs. Jane for a second then get back to Bella.
“I don't even know yet and we can talk about it later or tomorrow. I have to go now. Take care, Bells and I missed you too!” I reply as I hang up. I then switch my phone off and return back to Mrs. Jane...
