Y/N Berkshire, sixth-year Slytherin, had always cherished the anticipation of the Hogwarts Express journey. As she prepared to board for her latest year, she couldn't shake off the ominous undercurrent that now coursed through her.

There was something about the impending year that filled her with unease, even as the hogwarts express awaited her.

With her heart in her throat, she walked through the narrow corridors, her Slytherin friends laughing and sharing summer escapades.

Her footsteps eventually led her to an empty compartment, where she hoped for a moment of solitude to gather her thoughts.

The click of a compartment door opening abruptly broke her reverie. She looked up to find him standing there – Mattheo Riddle.

His dark eyes bore into hers, an unreadable expression on his striking features, and a hint of arrogance in his stance.

Y/N, with a natural proclivity for detecting hidden agendas, instantly recognized him. Mattheo Riddle, a prodigious wizard, and someone who had acquired an unwarranted reputation for arrogance and aloofness.

The shadow of his family's past, the rumored connections to a dark lineage, had long haunted the school's corridors.

Their gazes locked for a moment, an unspoken understanding passing between them.

Y/N had heard tales about Mattheo, tales that painted him as the embodiment of everything she despised.

An uneasy silence hung in the compartment, broken only by the rhythmic chugging of the train.

Y/N clenched her fists, unwilling to give him the satisfaction of knowing how uncomfortable he made her feel. "What do you want, Riddle?"

His lips curved into a faint, almost mocking smile. "A peaceful journey, just like everyone else."

Y/N scoffed, making room for him begrudgingly. "Well, there's plenty of compartments available. I'm sure you'll find one more to your liking."

But Mattheo ignored her thinly veiled protest, taking a seat opposite her. The compartment, once a sanctuary, now seemed claustrophobic, suffocating.

The rest of the journey passed in icy silence.

Y/N tried to focus on the rhythmic rattle of the train wheels, her disdain for Mattheo giving her strength.

Their interactions were limited to the barest of necessities, like deciding when to open the compartment door or sharing a disapproving glance at the students passing by.

As the train neared its destination, Y/N couldn't help but wonder what kind of trials and tribulations this year would bring.

She vowed to keep her distance from Mattheo Riddle.

The train's final whistle sounded, announcing their arrival at Hogwarts. Y/N and Mattheo exchanged one last icy look.

As the students spilled onto the platform and the castle loomed in the distance, Y/N couldn't help but wonder what the future held.

The mysterious enigma that was Mattheo Riddle had become an unwelcome presence in her life, and the pages of their story were far from written.

The Castle doors swung open, welcoming them into the embrace of a school that held secrets and surprises beyond their wildest imaginations.
