(Noah's pov)
I was laying on my bed getting ready to get up when suddenly I heard a knock on my door. Wondering who it was I told them to come in and was surprised to see Maya. She walked in and said nothing at first just plopped down on the floor next to my bed where I was. When she finally spoke all she said was 'what's wrong with me'.

"Uhm maybe you should give me some context before just saying that, what do you just expect me to read your mind?"

She then sits up and rolls her eyes and I can tell that she was a little hesitant to speak, which only made my curiosity grow.

"Ok well listen it's about someone, I don't know what's happening and I'm feeling these weird things" she says with a puzzled look on her face.

After a couple of seconds I smirk already knowing what's happening but decide to ask more to confirm it.

"Well what are you feeling?"

"Lately I've been getting butterflies when I'm around him and I think about him all the time, to the point where I'm having trouble paying attention to my classes, I also stare at him for a little longer than I should"

Suddenly I burst out into a huge laugh and all she does it look at me with a glare, probably wondering why I'm laughing like a lunatic.

"What's so funny?"

"You seriously don't know what your feeling?" I choked out, trying to contain my laugh.

She gave me a confused look and nodded her head no, I sigh before speaking again.

"Well it's simple, you have a crush"

(Maya's pov)
Did I just hear those words right? I definitely do not have a crush on Ethan. I mean yeah he's fun to hang out with but a crush!?

"You must be joking because there's no way I have a crush"

"But it's so obvious, have you seriously never seen a romance movie or read a romance book, you have all the love symptoms" he says with out trying to hide the smirk on his face

The more I thought about it the more it does sound like a crush but that's in movies and this is real life so that can't be the case.....right?

(Ethan's pov)
After school was over I got on the bus, not wanting to walk back home after I already walked to school but oh god do I hate the bus. It's always weirdly hot and somehow there's always some random weird kid who thinks he's so funny but he's not.

After the seven minutes of torture on the bus I finally get home and take out the key to open the house but when I open the house I hear quiet crying. There's only one other person that lives with me so I know who it has to be. My mother. I quickly make my way to the sound and find her on a chair which her head down on the table.

"Mom, what's wrong?"

She lifts up her head and the sight hurts me. My mom is a strong person and I've only ever seen her cry one other time when I was nine.

"Oh it's nothing sweetheart, don't worry about it"

"Mom I know when your lying, so please tell me"

I sit on a chair next to her as I see her look down.

"I didn't get the promotion, someone else was a better choice I guess"

I sigh now knowing why this broke her so much. Remember when I said that I only ever saw my mom cry one other time? Well it was because when I was nine years old my dad left us for a reason still not known.

The day started out as any other. That day my mom decided to take me to a park while my dad wanted to stay home saying he wasn't feeling good. When we got home though he was no where to be found. My mom refused to believe that he just left and spent days searching for him and the effects of that would show, she had heavy eye bags and talked a lot less. One day when she was looking through some of his stuff she found a letter.

Dear Emily,
Your probably wondering what's going on and I'm sorry your confused but I left. I can't explain why right now but one day I will come back for you and Ethan, I don't know when but wait for me. Tell Ethan I love him and don't worry about me. I love you, always remember that.
Love, Daniel

This letter broke my mom and she told me latter on about it. She didn't believe anything he said and thought that he just didn't want to tell the truth. Ever since then we've been struggling with money and my mom works so hard but she still is the kindest and best person you could ever meet.

"Hey look at me"

She does what I say and her eyes are still glassy with tears.

"It going to be ok, there are plenty of other opportunities that you will get. Just because things didn't work out this time doesn't mean that they won't next time. We will get through this and I can even get a part time job and work after school. One day we're going to make it big and all our dreams won't be dreams anymore and that's a promise"

She looks at me with a big smile and cry's a little more before speaking her next words.

"No one could have given me a better son than you, thank you"

The rest of that day was spent at home watching movies and having a good time, although it still saddened me that my mom worries so much, I know things will be ok.
