"Congratulations," Nyla said to her best friend of thirty something years. The two woman sat at the table while they had lunch in Nyla's kitchen. "You're number one on several bestselling list. You have wonderful reviews in everything from The New York Post to Essence. Other than that what have you been up to?"
"I've been in meeting after meeting with the director and working with the casting director trying to find the right cast for Tainted." Aaliyah smiled.
"I think that Vin Diesel would make the perfect Allen. Who is the guy from the Tyler Perry movies with the crazy wife?"
"Marcus?" Aaliyah looked at her friend thinking she was a few eggs short of a dozen.
"Yeah him. He would make the perfect Michael. What's his name?"
"Uh ... Michael Jai White."
"He is so fine." All the dirty things she wanted to do to him were written all over her face.
"He is so married." Aaliyah shook her head. "You are a mess."
"And you love me anyway."
"Only on Sundays."
"Shut up." Nyla threw a strawberry at her. Aaliyah ducked and picked up a grape off the platter of fruit that sat on the table between them. She threw it hitting her BFF right between the eyes. Both women laughed until they cried.
"I see some things never change." Mark stood in the doorway watching them. "Aren't you two a little too old to be having a food fight?"
"Who are you calling old?" Nyla asked her brother.
Aaliyah looked into his memorizing gray eyes and tried to remember that she wasn't the same little girl that had a major crush on him growing up. Now, she was a grown ass woman.
Having a seat next to her Mark picked up a piece of watermelon off her plate. Aaliyah tried to act like she didn't notice the juice dripping from his sexy chocolate lips. She took a deep breath and tried to get a hold of herself.
"Aren't you way older than both of us?" asked Aaliyah. She couldn't help but notice his white teeth next to his chocolate skin.
"I understand that congratulations are in order. Your book has been number one for that last four weeks." He looked into her eyes. "How many times have you made the bestsellers list?" Mark leaned in a little closer than necessary and picked up another piece of fruit from Aaliyah's plate.
"Her last four books have been on the bestsellers list. In fact," Nyla smiled. "They're doing a movie based on one of her books." Her smile got bigger.
While Nyla continued to talk, Mark took a good look at Aaliyah. It wasn't hard to notice that she had changed. She wasn't the same little brat that use to hang out with his baby sister. Aaliyah had grown into an exquisite women who was sassy, independent, smart and funny. Sexy. He couldn't forget sexy.
For some time now he had been seeing her in a completely new light. To say that he found her attractive would be an understatement. Aaliyah was an African American woman who stood about five six. She had a mocha completion with light green eyes and long wavy black hair. She had a body that most women would kill for. Instead of going to a plastic surgeon to get breast and butt implants, Aaliyah had been blessed with a 36 DD cup, flat stomach and an ample backside. She was definitely his type.
Mark had all of her books. He found them tantalizing and very intriguing. Once he started one, he couldn't seem to put it down. Never in a million years would he have thought that she had such a vivid imagination. On more than one occasion her work had given him one hell of an erection.
