We were lost, to say the least.

I was driving down a dirt road in the middle of nowhere. I had somehow taken a wrong turn and ended up here.

I could hear Michael muttering curse words from the passengers side. "Dammit Luke," he said. "Just turn around!"

He was angry with me but I was used to that. Having a dick for a step brother comes with its price.

"I can't turn. There isn't a road to turn on," I protested. I could hear Ashton's hoarse snores coming from the backseat.

Once he had realized we were lost, he chugged a beer and decided to take a nap. "I'm too sober to deal with your shit," he said. Again, another angry passenger.

But Calum, the dorky lad behind me was calm. He decided to take ahold of the situation and pull up a map.

"Bad news, Lukey. We're on a dead end road," he finally spoke up.

I wasn't the best driver in all of time. Matter of fact, I had to retake my driving test three times. I figured they would cut me from the program before I actually got my license.

"Well, what do I do? There is nothing but trees around here. I'll hit one for sure if I try and turn around," I said, unsure if what to do.

Calum sighed and handed me his GPS, "Just drive a little farther. Maybe the map is wrong."

Calum said this, knowing that the map was not wrong. He just hadn't a clue what to do.

I can't make a U turn in a single lane. I'm Luke Fucking Hemmings. I'll kill us all. He knows that too.

About five minutes later, we were still gliding down the dirt road. Fields of forests lined up on each side of the van. There was nothing out here.

We were traveling in complete isolation.

Or so I thought.

Suddenly I was brought back to reality when Calum yelled. "There! Turn there!"

He was pointing to the right side of the road. Just ahead I spotted an elderly woman standing in the middle of another dirt road.

The woman was attending to the needs of a small kitten at her side. Behind them, stood an old shabby house.

It was three storys high and it's thin layer of paint was past its due date. It was peeling, revealing the warped wood underneath.

Although the house looked to be in such terrible shape, it still seemed habitable. Seeing as how it was the elderly's house and all.

But something was wrong. I felt my skin grow cold and my stomach twist just at the sight.

"Calum -"

"Luke, you're going to miss the turn!"

Ignoring my instincts, I listened to Calum and made a swift turn into the driveway. The woman was nearly four feet away and barely flinched. But the kitten ran into the woods, terrified.

I came to an abrupt stop, feeling sick to my stomach. "I can't turn, she's in the way."

Calum let go of a groan and rolled down his window, "Excuse me miss," he began.

The woman did not move. She didn't even look up from the ground where the kitten had just been.

Calum was silent for a minute but spoke up again, "Um, ma'm.." he stuttered out. I tapped my fingers mindlessly against the steering wheel.

She didn't move. She did not hear, once again.

Calum quickly rolled up his window, "Luke, just back out...Now."

I quickly put the car in reverse but came short of hope when the car didn't move. I looked at the gas meter.

We had nearly a half a tank left.

I shook my head, "Calum, the damn thing won't move!"

Just then I felt my body tense up.

There was a tap at the window.

Calum gasped and fell back in his seat. Michael whimpered at my side, and I didn't dare look over.

But I did anyway.

There stood the elderly woman. Her hand pressed against the glass and her eyes pale blue eyes on mine.

That's when I noticed the womans lips were stitched together. Her eyes were full of agony and remorse.

This woman looked dead.

And it wasn't until she disappeared into thin air when I realized that she was.
