"Y/n, you have been assigned a mission to slay a demon terrorizing locals in the mountains eastward. Please hurry eastward to the Yuki mountain range eastward as soon as possible to slay the demon." The crow sang overhead, circling y/n as it repeated the mission.
Y/n sighed a bit, "Another mission already..?" Y/n mumbled to themselves, turning to face east as the crow had directed. Y/n sighed a bit one more time before they began to walk, almost running to the mountain range, which happened to be quite close by. The sun was setting by now, and the sky was an ombre of purples, blues, oranges, and reds.
Y/n quickly sprinted east, trying to get to the mountains before nightfall in order to quickly slay the demon and to prevent it from killing any locals before they got there. Y/n stopped when they reached the small town at the base of the mountain, walking through and waving to a few of the locals out late. They eventually reached the small, dirt path leading up into the mountains. Y/n took a deep breath as they began to walk, the warm lights from the town fading as they trudged along the path, the eerie atmosphere of the gloomy, thick forest enveloping them.
They crept along the path for a while, listening carefully, until they heard soft footsteps patting against the grass. Y/n quickly turned their gaze towards the noise, beginning to silently head over as fast as possible. Soon, they spotted a demon, walking along in the forest. Y/n stopped to hide behind a bush to asses the demon, observing its features. The demon appeared to be a quite strong one, with long white hair, piercing, icy blue eyes, a tattered blue kimono, and pale, almost white skin. The kimono had dried blood splattered and stained all over, and they appeared to be barefoot.
Y/n quickly jumped out of the bush, attempting to slash the demon from behind to get a head start. The demon quickly turned around, and pushed the y/n away before they could slash them. "Hmm... Another demon slayer?" The demon said in a chilling voice, with an almost mocking tone as they cocked their head to the side at y/n. "Yes, I have been sent by the demon slayer corps to slay you." Y/n said in an aggressive tone, getting into a fighting stance, and directing the katana at the demon. "Ha! You think a low level demon slayer such as yourself can defeat me?" The demon chuckled at y/n's statement. It was true, they were only rank three, Kanto. But surely this demon couldn't be that much of a challenge.
Y/n took a deep breath, and quickly charged at the demon, attempting to slice its legs in order to disable it for a moment. Y/n only managed to get a small knick on the demon's ankle, before they quickly jumped back. The demon growled in anger, "How dare you.." They hissed, their voice a low, menacing mumble. Before y/n could react, the demon suddenly jumped forward to them, slamming them into the trunk of large oak tree. Y/n coughed and winced in pain, having the wind knocked out of them. "Not to cocky now, huh demon slayer?" The demon leaned down, snarling at them while holding y/n's chin up to face them.
Y/n took a few seconds to regain their strength, before they pushed the demon away from them, quickly jumping away and getting into a defensive stance. "Tsk, tsk, tsk... Why must all you demon slayers be so stubborn?" The demon's voice had a hint of annoyance as they turned around to face y/n. "You shut your mouth..." Y/n grumbled to them, jumping forward to try and slice their abdomen this time. The demon tried to jump away once more, but y/n successfully sliced its stomach, leaving a large gash in the middle of its abdomen.
The demon glared at y/n as it gasped for air, trying to quickly heal the wound. "How DARE you!" They yelled, quickly healing up the wound and quickly racing over to y/n, pinning them to the ground. "How dare a little BRAT such as yourself even dare to do something like that. I'm going to make your death even more painful than I was going to before." The demon hissed to y/n. They quickly kicked y/n against another tree, grinning wildly as y/n gasped for air. "Not so fun now that you're the one in pain, is it?" The demon said cockily, striding toward y/n.
As y/n gasped for air, they could feel their eyelids getting heavy, and their body weak. As they slowly began to slip into unconscious, a sudden burst of bright light appeared, and the demon's head was sliced off the next. Y/n's eyes widened in surprise for a moment as they watched the demon's beheaded body fall to the ground.
As the flames flickered out of the air, y/n could make out the figure of a demon slayer with a white haori with a yellow and red flame pattern at the bottom. Y/n once more felt their eyelids slowly close as they slipped into unconscious, their vision fuzzy as everything went black.
