Y/n slowly blinked their eyes open as the soft morning sunlight filled the room.. As y/n began to wake up, they realized they were in a whole new place. "Huh..? How did I get here..?" Y/n mumbled to themselves as they stared at the ceiling, slowly sitting up in the bed. They winced a bit in pain as they realized they had been bandaged up, looking down to their body, which had medical tape scattered around their abdomen, legs, and arms.
Y/n looked around a bit, wondering where they were before they noticed someone sleeping at the end of their bed... Y/n got a bit surprised when they noticed the sleeping stranger, hesitantly leaning closer to get a better look at them. As y/n leaned in a bit to see them better, they realized this was the stranger with the white haori with the flame patterns that saved them last night. As y/n continued to study him, they realized who he was... "The flame hashira..?" Y/n muttered to themselves in disbelief and a bit of awe.
Y/n reached a hand out to wake him up but stopped themselves before they could. "Wait... Why is he here..? Did he take me here..? Why is he sleeping at the foot of the bed..? Is he waiting for me to wake up..?" Thoughts and questions raced through y/n's mind as they wondered about so many things... Then, the flame hashira slowly began to rouse awake...
"Mmmph..." He mumbled, yawning awake. The flame hashira's eyes lit up when he saw that y/n was awake. "Finally! I've been waiting for you to wake up!" He said in a happy tone, quickly getting up and walking closer to y/n. He cupped their face in his hands as he smiled widely. "Are you okay? Do you feel sore or anything? Do you remember what happened last night? What's your name?" The flame hashira bombarded y/n with questions.
"Wait, wait, wait... Slow down a bit..." Y/n said, placing a hand on top of one of his on their cheek. "First of all, my name is y/n. And you are?" The flame hashira nodded. "Y/n... y/n... Got it! Oh, my name is Rengoku." He said, still smiling. Y/n sighed a bit. "Okay, so, Rengoku? As in, the flame hashira?" Y/n asked him, taking his hands off their cheeks. Rengoku nodded. "Yes! I am, in fact, the flame hashira! I'm glad you recognized me!" He said happily. "Ok, and as to answer your other questions.. Yes, I'm okay. Yes, I feel sore. And yes, I remember what happened last night." Y/n said to him, sighing a bit. Rengoku seemed as if he was about to say something before y/n interrupted him. "And I would like to say thank you. I don't know what would have happened to me if you weren't there.." Y/n nodded their head to Rengoku slightly as he continued to smile. "No worries, y/n!" He said, nodding a bit.
"Oh, also, quick question... Where am I..?" Y/n asked him, looking around a bit in the room. "Oh, I just took you to the butterfly mansion to get you all healed up. You were hurt pretty bad. Quite a few broken bones, apparently..." Rengoku said, looking around the room a bit as well. Y/n's memories flashed back, getting slammed against the trees must have caused some broken bones, y/n thought to themselves.
"Hm.. Well, how long do you think I'll have to stay here?" Y/n asked Rengoku, tilting their head a bit. "I'm not too sure myself.. You'll probably have to ask Kanzaki, Terauchi, Takada, or Nakahara that question. I'm not too much of a medical expert..." Y/n seemed a bit curious now, "Who are they?" Y/n asked him, interest in their voice. "Hm? Oh, they're just the girls who help people who are healing in the butterfly mansion. They help with medicine, food, drinks, etc. They're like... nurses." Rengoku explained to y/n as they nodded their head. "Oh, I get it. I'll make sure to ask one of them when someone stops into my room to check up on me or something.." Rengoku nods and smiles, "That sounds like a good idea y/n, they'll probably know more about how long you'll be here more than I will.."
Rengoku begins to stand up, but y/n tugs on his sleeve a bit. "Hey, I have a question..." Y/n says to him as Rengoku pauses, "What is it?" He says, tilting his head at them. "Will you come to visit me while I recover..? It'll probably get lonely here..." Y/n says a bit nervously. Rengoku smiles widely and nods, "Of course I will! I'll try to stop by when I can if I'm not busy, I promise." He said while standing up fully. Y/n smiles and nods to him, "Thank you.." Rengoku chuckled a bit, "No problem! I'll try my best to stop by once a day, just for you." He says while smiling sweetly. Y/n can't help but smile back, waving to him as he leaves the room.
Y/n sits in the quiet room for a moment, yawning a bit as they begin to realize how sore and tired their body is... Y/n decides to lay down and sleep for a little while longer, feeling the warm morning sun against their face as they slowly doze off.
