"Wha-what?" Jasmine stuttered out, her eyes widening from shock. "I'm to be Silas's wife?!"

King Wright glared at her with his dark red eyes.

Seeing them, Jasmine almost thought that the demons in them were going to jump out and devour her in her outburst.

Yuri and Gary looked at each other for a moment, then back at Jasmine and King Wright.

They both knew that Jasmine wasn't supposed to know until King Wright told her.

Her reaction was completely expectant.

They felt bad for her and her fate, which's being altered due to her ties to this royal, toxic proximity.

Half of the fear Jasmine had felt about King Wright was completely gone.

It was replaced with anger.

Trying her best to keep her tone steady, Jasmine asked, "Why me? Why not marry him to another female in the country of Windings that he's familiar with?"

King Wright tried his best to keep his composure, too.

Especially with Jasmine's outburst that seemingly annoyed him.

"He wants you and no one else," he simply stated, "and I want my son to be happy with whatever he wants."

Jasmine felt disgust overwhelm her at the thought of marrying the Prince of Windings.

King Wright leaned forward as he lowly growled, "And whatever my son wants, he's going to get."

He leaned back in his chair and had a look of satisfaction plastered on his face as he saw the look of defeat on Jasmine's.

Jasmine thought that she was being called to the castle for another usual request.

No.

This was going to be permanent.

And this wasn't a request, but a demand from King Wright while he was still king.

Just then, one of the doors to the main room opened a bit.

They looked to see who was there.

One of the guards outside of the main room was the one that was peeking in.

"Your Highness," the guard called.

King Wright asked, irritated, "What is it?"

"The Prince of Athen is waiting for you," the guard informed him.

King Wright smirked as he told the guard, "Send him in."

"Yes, my lord." The guard's head disappeared from view, and that same cracked door opened completely wide.

Jasmine was shocked but tried to conceal it with a straight face.

She turned back around and faced forward, but kept her head down.

King Wright told Gary to send for his son.

"Yes, Your Highness," Gary replied before going into the back of the Main Room to summon the prince.

Jasmine just stared at the floor, replaying the current moments of what just happened.

Tears began to well up in her eyes.

"Why?" She thought. "After all this time? You've been making me do nothing but things that are meaningless to glorify your kingdom. Then leave me with little to nothing every time. You know your son's illness, and you do this to me?"

Jasmine was snapped out of her thoughts when she felt two bony but strong hands rest, then tightly clutch on her shoulders, their nails digging into her skin.
