As I woke from my sleep, my phone emitted a buzzing sound, I had received some notification. I reached for my phone, and a sense of curiosity filled me. What I saw was quite unexpected It was a message from Daniel I jumped off the bed and sat with legs crossed as I opened the message to see what it was about.
"Did you read the Journal?"
"yes" - I texted him back.
"Did you remember something" - Daniel
"little bit.." - Celina
"Can we meet" - Daniel
"okay" - Celina
"same location" - Daniel
I could feel my heartbeat getting faster I never felt something like this before for someone I was waiting for him at the bus stop I waited for him to text me I wanted to meet him badly but I was afraid to face him What should I say to him? Wouldn't it be awkward anyway if I had to meet him deep down I wanted to meet him I want to know how he is doing. I quickly took a shower got ready and left the home.
Soon I reached the Cafe but he was not there yet I was waiting for him sitting in the same chair where he sat last time. After some time, he arrived he wore a brown leather jacket with black sweatpants His dark brown eyes and his hair which look like those in 90's actor I never paid attention to his physical features before but now I notice it all his pale skin with a mole on his upper lips. His lips were naturally pink.
"Hey? You okay?" - he asked.
"yeah.. yeah I'm fine" - I was flustered as he touched my cheeks. I didn't want to get caught looking at him.
"Have you read the journal yet?" - he asked as he sat on the chair.
"Yes I'm reading it I've not finished it yet" - I replied.
he was silent and didn't say anything for another 10 minutes so I chose to break the silence.
"you must have read the journal right" - I said.
"No" - he replied.
"Why?" - I looked at him curiously.
"when she was alive she never let me read those she would say only one person can read this and that's Celina because she wrote everything about you in those" - He sighed.
"But weren't you curious" - I asked again.
"Yes, I was even though we are close we do respect each other privacy" - He replied.
"Why do you want to meet me?" - I asked right away.
His eyes gazed at me he came forward his hands leaning on the table his chin resting in his palms without blinking he stared deep into my eyes as he was trying to speak through his eyes. I was startled as the waitress asked us about our order.
"You drink coffee? - Daniel asked.
I nodded. He ordered two coffees after the waitress left he told me that the reason why he called me was because.
"You remind me of my sister." - he looked away. I've heard this before I know that. But was this the only reason he wanted to meet me I didn't seem to be convinced by his reply maybe I expected something else. Soon our coffee arrived I took a sip from my coffee suddenly I looked at him but he was already looking at me then he took a sip from his coffee cup. It was awkward between us. After I finished my coffee and looked at him.
"I've finished my coffee. I should probably go now" -I said as I was leaving.
He nodded. I waved him goodbye and went home.
"Celina! Where were you? - my mom said in an angry voice.
I couldn't just say to her I went to meet Daniel.
"I was just out for a walk" - I replied.
"okay! but before going anywhere just tell me.. I worry about you honey" - she gave me a concerned look.
"yes mom" - I replied then went upstairs towards my room. Only few chapters were left in the journal and I wanted to complete it. I want to know more about our friendship her ability to describe our friendship in such a unique and accurate way took me by surprise. Even Though I couldn't remember her or any past memories but the journal helped me remembering and living at the moment, I realized how much I valued her perspective and her understanding of my thoughts and feelings. She had a way of seeing things that I had never considered before, I could also know about her and her brother more clearly Her description of me and her life helped shed new light.
