The song for today is Read Your Diary from their album Rush!
The song focuses on a man's obsession with a woman stalks her and reads her diary in order to have sex with her. The song is very provocative and quite intimate in its lyrics.
The song "Read Your Diary" by Måneskin appears to be about a relationship that is obsessive and possessive. The narrator struggles to get closer to their partner and the lyrics describe their efforts to feel connected with them through various means such as trying on their shoes and reading their diary.
These actions suggest that the narrator is attempting to understand their partner better and potentially even become them. The lines "Put on your lipstick, show me your kinks, I'm not afraid of them / Show me the lovin', the lovin', the lovin' that you'll never give to a man" indicate that the narrator is willing to explore and accept their partner's quirks and desires to strengthen their bond.
However, the repeated lyrics of "Forever and ever and ever" and "Try to get inside of you" also suggest a sense of desperation on the part of the narrator. It seems as though they are afraid of losing their partner or not being able to fully connect with them.
The line "Now I taste like you" implies that the narrator is willing to change themselves to better match their partner's desires and potentially even merge their identities together. This can be seen as a sign of an unhealthy and obsessive relationship.
Overall, "Read Your Diary" portrays a relationship that is intense and passionate, yet deeply flawed and potentially toxic.
Brought you some roses, you didn't take themSo I shed a tear
Pouring some champagne over your panties
So that we can cheer
Counting the hours, counting the seconds
'Till I can feel your bones
There is a diamond on your pillow
When you're coming homeAlone, I've been waiting
So long, it's trueDance in your shoes, read your diary to
Get inside of you, you, you
Forever and ever and ever
Cried on your nudes, wearing your perfume
Now I taste like you, you, you
Forever and ever and ever
I was dancing in your shoes
When I read your diary to
Try to get inside of youPut on your lipstick, show me your kinks
I'm not afraid of them
Show me the lovin', the lovin', the lovin'
That you'll never give to a man
I'm not a coward, I'm not a hero
But I can be your toy
I'll be the pill that you wanna swallow
When you're looking for the joyAlone, I've been waiting
So long, it's trueDance in your shoes, read your diary to
Get inside of you, you, you
Forever and ever and ever
Cried on your nudes, wearing your perfume
Now I taste like you, you, you
Forever and ever and ever
I was dancing in your shoes
When I read your diary to
Try to get inside of youOh, why don't you give a little love now, baby?
A little bit of loveAlone, in the shower
Using my left hand so it feels like you
So please, I'm begging
To feel something newDance in your shoes, read your diary to
Get inside of you, you, you
Forever and ever and ever
Cried on your nudes, wearing your perfume
Now I taste like you, you, you
Forever and ever and ever
I was dancing in your shoes
When I read your diary to
Try to get inside of you
All in all, it's a total vibe with lots of sex appeal. I highly recommend listening to the entire album. My personal favourite song on that album is Mark Chapman, but that's another song for another time.
That's all for now.
I also want to announce that the title Song Of The Week is rather loose, and this is really something I do when I'm bored and procrastinating on another project, so updates will be sporadic.
