Sasuke's P.O.V:
.
.
.This is the second time in half an hour that Kakashi has utterly embarrassed me.
I'd charged at him, enraged by a comment he made about my clan. He'd easily pinned me to the floor, my own kunai pressed lightly against the back of my head. And in half a second flat, no less.
I gritted my teeth in frustration.
If I can't even beat this lousy Jonin, how am I supposed to kill Nii-san?
I mean-
Itachi...
Damn. Stop calling him that. He's not your brother anymore. He never was.
My anger overcame me and I raged against Kakashi, trying to break free. My efforts were in vain, however, as Kakashi pressed the kunai ever so slightly harder into the back of my head, stopping my brief struggle. And confirming what I already feared. I still wasn't good enough.
Kakashi did something surprising.
"Sakura, kill Naruto, or I kill Sasuke."
I froze.
What was Sakura going to do?
She glanced, strangely calm, between me and Naruto before locking eyes with Kakashi. There seemed to be a sort of animosity in her gaze, but I didn't know why.
"I don't think so, Sensei. I highly doubt you'd drive that knife into his skull."
Kakashi raised an eyebrow (the only one we could see) and slowly released me. I quickly sprang to my feet, refusing to be further humiliated.
I warily backed away next to Sakura, who was still in the middle of a stare down with our teacher. Once I reached her, she smirked at him. "Well, Sensei. Seems like you got bested yet again by a small little girl."
I looked back and forth between them, wondering what on Earth happened with them.
The tension grew as the silence stretched on, filling the clearing with an ugly awkwardness that seemed to last a year.
In reality, it really lasted about thirty seconds before Kakashi, nonchalant as ever, went on some ramble about teamwork. Then he left, with the warning that if either me or Sakura fe Naruto, we would all immediately fail.
Sakura sighed in frustration and sat down next to tied-up Naruto.
I watched her out of the corner of my eye as she miserably grabbed a container of food.
I wanted to ask what happened, but I knew it wasn't any of my business.
But I couldn't help but wonder.
I sighed silently, grabbing the other box and sat down on the other side, still side-eyeing her. (A/N: DON'T START 😠)
She caught my eye and scowled, silently warning me not to ask, and pointedly took a bite of her lunch. I got the hint and slid my gaze away, down to the food in my lap. My appetite was suddenly gone, but I took a bite anyway, knowing I'd need the strength.
I heard Naruto's stomach growling, so I looked up at him. He was watching Sakura eat wistfully, but I guessed he was too proud to ask for food. Either that or he actually believed Kakashi.
I rolled my eyes, knowing he'd never ask either way, and held out my food.
"Here."
His head snapped around to stare at me. "What?"
