I stood there, tear stains on my cheeks while new ones continued to fall. I didn't think I still had any tears left since that was the only thing I knew how to do these past couple of days.

Words or emotions couldn't even begin to express how I felt right now. It's almost like I felt numb because of what was going on, what was happening around me. We never thought this was possible.

I stood outside, ignoring the speeches and the other words coming out of peoples mouths at the service. I couldn't think straight. How could this have happened?

I looked up slowly at the mention of my name. I nearly broke down again when the neatly folded, now triangular shaped flag was placed into my hands. My body shaked once I felt the material on my hands. Why me..

I looked down at the flag in my arms. A loud sobbed escaped my lips when I was his hand writing on a portion of the flag. A soldier walked up to me and placed his dog tags on top of the flag. I knew he would want me to keep these, cheerish them, and to share them with our soon-to-be daughter, just 3 more months until arrival.

The sounds of gunshots fired through the air as I watched the black case being lowered into the ground. I couldn't bare to watch, as I began to violently scream and cry at the site.

This can't be happening to me.

This is just a dream.
