"Okay, so we've got a date, a time, a location and our guest list, am I right?" I ask Jamie who's staring at my computer screen. "Ye forgot one thing, Sassenach," he says staring at me intensely. "Ye forgot us.... You and me, the ones who are getting married,"I kiss his cheek softly and shake my head. "You know that's not what I meant," the doorbell rings before I can look back at the screen. "That must be Jenny with wee Jamie," I say closing the computer and putting it on the table.
I hurry downstairs with Jamie on my heels and open the door. Wee Jamie smiles at the sight of us and immediately comes to hug us. I lift him up and he rest on my hip, smiling brightly. "Auntie!" He says happily.
"Hello darling, how are you feeling? Happy I think?" I smile and give him a kiss on his cheek before handing him to Jamie. I open the door further to let Jenny in while Jamie goes to the kitchen with wee Jamie for some cookies.
"Thank ye so much for taking him today. I hope it's nae bother," she says putting down wee Jamie's small bag. "Ofcourse not! Jamie loves spending time with his nephew and so do I," I reassure her.
She asked us to take wee Jamie for a night so she and Ian could rest properly before the other bairn comes. Jamie and I agreed happily. We hadn't talked about children ourselves yet, what I did still really want to talk about.
"It's alright believe me, we're just going to order some pizza, watch a movie with popcorn and he will be fast asleep," i tell her as she doesn't look completely sure.
"Okay, if something's wrong, please call!" She says before opening the doo. I give her a hug and tell her I will.
The evening goes smoothly, we eat something, watch Tangled and bring wee Jamie to bed. "He's beautiful isn't he?" I ask Jamie when he's finally asleep.
"Aye Sassenach," he nods and plants a soft kiss on my ring. "Can we talk?" He asks suddenly and I nod. "Yes, would you like some tea,"
"Aye, I'd like that," he says and I make a cup for both of us. "Sassenach do ye want children?" He blurts out before I can sit down. "Yes I do, I do want children. With you ofcourse!"
He smiles and he seems relieved. "Though not yet," I continue and Jamie looks up. "When? I mean, when would you want children?"
"Well I can't pinpoint an exact moment, but after we're married. I think then we'd be more stable, because we're legally bonded, we'd be stronger I think," I explain and he nods. "Aye, I agree,"
"What made you think of this so suddenly?" I take a sip fro my tea and almost burn my tongue. "When I saw ye with wee Jamie, how ye took him in your arms and adored him... I couldn't help but think that I wanted that too, with you. A beautiful bairn of our own, running around the house, playing with toys and cuddling when they're tired,"
"It's like a dream isn't it? Having a family," I say moving closer to him. "Aye 'tis," I kiss his cheek softly before resting my head in his shoulder. "You can make a list of names, but don't start preparing too much. We still need to take it slow," I whisper and Jamie lets out a soft "aye"
I doze off, surrendering myself to tiredness. Safe and secure in Jamie's arms. His smell going in and out of my nose. His big hands slowly caressing my shoulders.
"Claire, Mo Graidh, breakfast is ready and wee Jamie is verra hungry," Jamie whispers in my ear, carefully brushing my hair away from my eyes. I turn to him and find him in his jogging pants. "You look handsome darling,"
I grab his neck gently but firm and pull him to me. I kiss him tenderly and he immediately returns it. "We canna Sassenach, wee Jamie is downstairs," he groans as I'm almost on top of him by now.
