Chapter title:
~Lallybroch
"Finally, that took us longer then expected," I sigh, I can finally breath fresh air after two hours in the car. "Aye, I'm starving," Jamie complains grabbing our bag. I give him a kiss on his cheek before telling him that Ellen or Jenny must've made something to eat.
We walk up to the front door and I open it so Jamie can walk in with the bag. "Anyone home?"
Ellen comes rushing from the kitchen and gives me a big hug. "Yer finally here! God I thought ye two were never gonna arrive anymore," she gives Jamie a hug and we walk towards the living room.
We say hi to everyone and we go to Jamie's old bedroom. "Ughh, it always smells so good in here," I take a deep breath and Jamie grins at me. "I have a surprise lass,"
"What?" I ask curiously and he hands me a small flyer with floating lanterns. "Would ye like to go there? Mom has arranged special places where you ca see them very good. Unless you don't-"
I kiss him to make him stop talking. "I'd love to Jamie! It's like a dream!" I smile. "We should go downstairs again Sassenach, I wish to eat something before I starve,"
I give him one final kiss and we go back downstairs. Ellen sees the flyer in my hand and nods. "Ye agreed to go I guess,"
"Yes! It's like a dream come true!" I say happily. Being at Lallybroch with the family makes me feel at home. I love my mother of course and I don't see her often but somehow Ellen feels like a second mother.
-The Next Day
I'm standing on the big hill with Jamie behind me. His hands resting on my shoulders, while whispering sweet words which make my blush constantly. When they light the lanterns and let them float in the air, it feels like a dream come true. "They're gorgeous," I whisper almost tearing up. "Aye, so are you Sassenach,"
I kiss him softly. "Thank you for showing me these," I kiss him again as he smiles. "It's my pleasure, I love tae see ye happy," he lets go of me and goes to stand behind me again.
I admire the lanterns for another minute before I can hear Jenny calling out for me. "Claire!" I turn around to see Jamie on his knee with a ring.
I gasp taking a step back. "Jamie..." I start but stop quickly as I don't know what words to use.
"Claire, Sassenach, Mo Grádh. Those are just words I use to call for ye, to describe how much I care about you but none of those three is enough. From the moment I saw you, my heart lept in my throat and it still does when I see ye. I never truly believed that ye could love someone that you'd die for them, but ye must know, I would die for you," he says and tears sting in my eyes.
"I've thought and dreamt of this moment with you for so long. I want you to be my wife more then I want anything. I want you to be mother of my children too. I'm so happy that I found you when I did, and I don't just love you as my lover, I love you as my best friend and the person that makes me whole," he continues and tears are in his eyes now too.
"Claire Elizabeth Beauchamp, will you marry me?" He asks and a tear drops from my eye. "Jamie Alexander Malcolm Mackenzie Fraser, I will marry you. Yes! Ofcourse I'll marry you!" I tell him and pull him in a hug.
"I love ye so much Claire. Ye'll never know how much I love you," he whispers in my ear. I kiss him tenderly and he puts the ring around my finger. "I love you too Jamie,"
"What do you think of the ring?" He asks and all of the sudden he looks insecure. "It's.... It's so beautiful, i don't have the words. But it's not the ring what matters to me most, you matter to me most!"
