Hallucinations

Lincoln woke up with a yawn. He tried to stretch his arms but only the right one did so. He looked down at his left and found it encased in plaster.

"Oh. That's going to take some getting used to." Lincoln managed to sit up and swung his legs over the edge. He put down his good foot first, grabbed his crutch and then in a sort of lunge got off the bed.

Lincoln looked at the clock. He had slept in until about 9:00 AM. He moved over to his closet to change into something else. He chose an orange polo and blue jeans (The only things in his closet.) He struggled to take off his old clothes, as the plaster caught on the sleeve and pant leg. He then struggled as much to put the new clothes on.

He walked out of his room and to the bathroom. The house was unusually quiet with the younger kids sleeping in. He seemed to have the bathroom to himself. He kept walking, but the bathroom door didn't seem to get closer. He kept passing mahogany doors set in olive green walls, crossing over blue plaid carpeting, but the bathroom didn't get any closer.

Bam!

Lincoln's face hit the door. He backed up and almost fell down. He leaned against the wall and dropped his crutch bringing his hand up to his throbbing face, groaning. The door to his left opened up and Leni peered out, her magenta sleep mask still tied to her forehead.

"You okay Linky?" she asked.

"Yeah, yeah," Lincoln reassured. "I just wasn't watching where I was going." Leni picked up his crutch and handed it to him. "Thanks Leni." He looked back and saw the same six plain doors, tan walls and red carpet and not that seemingly endless hallway.

He used the bathroom and hobbled downstairs into the living room. He turned into the dining room where all of the older sisters were, sitting around the table sipping at their mugs full of coffee.

"Mornin Linc," they all said in groggy unison.

"Good morning," Lincoln replied as he walked into the kitchen. He pulled a breakfast burrito out of the fridge and stuck it in the microwave. He closed the door and moved his hands towards the buttons, but he paused. The numbers that were supposed to be on the buttons seemed to be sliding off and floating around.

He pressed the buttons he thought were right and waited for the microwave to finish heating. He turned to the cupboard to grab a plate when he heard a distinct popping noise from behind. He turned his head to see that his breakfast burrito had exploded in the microwave.

He sighed and grabbed a fork. "Looks like I'll be having burrito salad for breakfast," he sighed to himself. He turned off the microwave and began to scrape portions of the burrito off the sides onto his plate. He then walked out to the dining room and took a seat.

Lynn looked up from her mug to his plate. "What happened to your burrito?"

"I messed up the settings," Lincoln said as he began to eat.

"You sure you didn't just pick a bad one?" Lynn asked.

"Hey, you shouldn't give poorly constructed burritos a hard time. I think they get a bad wrap," Luan interjected.

Everyone else groaned. Lincoln continued to eat as the rest began to indulge in small talk. He finished his breakfast and put his plate away. He walked into the living room where Lily and Lisa were.

Lily was standing at the coffee table with a box of animal themed memory cards. His pile of comic books from the previous day had been pushed off and onto the floor. Lisa was sitting on the couch with a pen and clipboard in hand.

"Good morning male sibling," Lisa said. "May I ask for your assistance?"

Lincoln hobbled over to her. "Yeah. What do you need?"
