Leaves of vibrant green shower the Live Oak trees that scattered the fields we drove past. The kiss of Spring has touched the land's flora, bringing life back to its bare branches. The pads of my fingers pried at my rearview mirror, shifting the position to show more of my daughter.

My little blonde angel sat strapped into her car seat, playing with her favorite Barbie doll that she dug out of the small toy bin I left open next to her. The dimples caved deeper into her cheeks as she sang along to the Shania Twain song on the staticky radio station. I hummed a grin, my eyes falling back onto the asphalt before me. I raised her well.

When we passed the "Welcome to Florida" sign, I could practically smell the citrus trees. Sure, it was a figment of my imagination, but nothing could stop me from tearing into one of my grandmother's oranges. Straight from her citrus farm, untreated and organic—nothing tasted better. I practically drooled at the thought of its juice meeting my tastebuds.

A sigh of relief escaped my lips, but I still had a few more hours. Five to be exact. At least my tires were planted on the Floridian highway.
