His old friend | Tony Stark x OC

Act 1: Part 1

A/N: I don't know how MIT works so I'm gonna treat it like a normal boarding school that has dorms.

Scarlett Myra Blake, best friend of Tony Stark, James "Rhodey" Rhodes and Carol Danvers, was worse than her best friend when it came to running on time.

"Scarlett Myra Blake if you don't get your fucking arse out of bed, I'll drag you to MIT myself, with you just as you are" came Mia Blake's voice, that got Scarlett's brain into gear.

"Sorry Mam, slept in" said Scarlett as she slid into the kitchen via the tiles and socks "yeah I could tell" said Mia dryly "be careful Myra don't want you bruised on the first day" said Tony catching his best friends wrist as she began losing her balance, Mia had obviously tuned the two out. "When did you get here?" asked Scarlett as she grabbed a Nutella crape her Irish accent making it's way through, "like 20 minutes ago" said Tony "dude, you could've come and got me up, I mean you've seen me like that before" said Scarlett "Mhm, you're dad doesn't know that though and he was in here, I was gonna but the look your mother shot me told me 'don't do it' so I didn't" said Tony, Scarlett thought and agreed with Tony.

"Right, I'll finish getting ready and we can head off." said Scarlett, Tony nods and watches her walk off and turns back only to find Mia staring at him, he ignored it and took a sip of coffee when Mia spoke "you should tell her you love her" Tony began choking causing Scarlett to come sliding into the room again this time crashing into the island bench "fuck" she said "that's why you don't wear socks on tiles Scar" said Sam Blake walking in and patting Tony on the back "come on breath" he said jokingly "Dad" said Scarlett warningly. Sam backed away "Scar get your shoes on" said Mia, Scarlett rolled her eyes and mumbled things under her breath.

Scarlett came back two minutes later, she was wearing black converses, jeans and a white top, "It's our last year at MIT, Tony lets not be late." said Scarlett, Mia rolled her eyes playfully "Chill out Myra" said Tony jokingly. "Myra? That's her middle name" said Mia confused "exactly" said Scarlett and Tony in sync, Mia and Sam shared looks not even hearing Scarlett's goodbye.

The two walk into MIT and greet Carol and Rhodey who are hanging out at their lockers "so we get our timetables yet?" Scarlett asked, Carol nodded "I've got a copy for you" she said handing Scarlett a copy, Tony got his from Rhodey, they liked to compare timetables "looks like you lot are stuck with me for the year, as per usual" said Tony, the others playfully groan, Tony looks offended, Scarlett playfully punched his shoulder "we're kidding you know that" she said, Tony laughs and the four walk off to their first class, when they all get pulled out by the dean, the four are worried.

"Sit down" he said, the Dean was an old man, Scottish too, for some reason it put Scarlett at ease "you four have been selected to graduate summa cum laude, do you know what that means?" he asked, Scarlett spoke "it means we're graduating with the highest distinction/honours" she said, the Dean nodded "you're not to breath a word of this, not even your teachers are aware" he said.

The four left the office and because they missed most of their first class waited for their second, Scarlett was talking with Tony when some jealous blonde walked over and shoved herself in front of Scarlett and faced Tony, who ignored her and kept talking to Scarlett switching from English to Gaelic and Italian, Italian is Tony's second language and can speak it fluently due to his Italian mother, Gaelic is Scarlett's first language not a surprise, when the two became friends, if they ever wanted to talk about something they didn't want anyone else to know they switch to those two languages, they were hard to learn but they got there in the end.

The blonde girl huffed and stalked off leaving the group of friends try to hold in their laughter as she stalks off and they fail, there was always going to be someone like that but for Scarlett it made her heart twist, in sadness or jealously? She wasn't sure.

The lecture for Tony was boring, he couldn't concentrate, so his eyes wandered around the room before landing on Scarlett who was beside him, she'd tied her hair up in a messy bun and looked as bored as he did, this stuff always came easy to them that's why they were at MIT. Scarlett sensing someone was watching her turned to Tony who was looking back at the professor, she hid a smile, and turned back to the professor herself, she almost swore when she felt Tony push her off the the desk and almost into Rhodey who caught her shoulder "dude what the hell?" asked Scarlett "you fell asleep, I woke you" said Tony smirking his signature smirk.

The Professor cleared his throat, Rhodey and Carol hated when Scarlett and Tony flirted so they ignored it, both Scarlett and Tony snapped their attention towards their professor both smiled innocently.

The day wore on when they finally went to their dorms, Scarlett called her parents when Tony knocked on her door "got to go Mam, Dad" Scarlett hangs up and opens her door seeing Tony, she lets him in "what's up?" she asked "Hmm, the Stark Industries Christmas party's coming up, I know Mam and Dad would love to see you again" said Tony. "Tony it's June" said Scarlett "I know" said Tony. "Then why are you telling me when it's six months away?" she asked "cause I want an answer now, that way you can clear out your schedule" said Tony. Scarlett laughed "alright I'll go" said Scarlett, Tony grinned and got up.

Time skip to their 2nd last week cause I'm lazy.

Scarlett was lying on her bed in her dorm thinking of how she was going to tell Tony she loved him when someone knocked on her door, Scarlett dragged herself out of bed "hey Myra, what's up with you?" Tony asked seeing her mopey expression "nothing" she lied, Tony frowned and walked in, sitting on her bed "don't lie to me Scarlett" said Tony seriously, Scarlett was surprised, Tony never called her Scarlett unless he was serious "fine, I love you Tony, if this ruins our friendship I don't care, I'm tired of running from my feelings for you" Tony was surprised and Scarlett frowned thinking their friendship was ruined, Tony stood up and walked over to Scarlett "Well that made my confession a whole lot easier" Scarlett looked confused "what do you---" Tony cuts Scarlett off by smashing his lips against hers when they heard a squeal of delight, they broke apart and turned seeing Carol, Scarlett realised she forgot to close the door. "I'm telling James" she said and ran off down the hall.

Rhodey followed his girlfriend up the hall and to Scarlett's room when she was sitting on her bed, watching tv, Tony beside her "so, it took you two long enough" said Rhodey startling both Scarlett and Tony who just rolled their eyes. Carol and Rhodey joined them they were watching the Original Doctor Who series.

Time skip to their last day (they've just graduated), again cause I'm lazy and running out of plot.

Scarlett felt like the world came crashing around her, she and her friends had been allowed back home during their last week, she went downstairs when her mother broke the news "we're moving back to Ireland" "No" she said defiantly "you're grandmother's dying, she wants to see you" said Sam, after arguing with her parents they won, as they often did, Scarlett met up with Tony in a park "I'm moving back to Ireland, after today." Tony looked sad and confused "well, long distance is hard" he said, Scarlett nodded she was dreading this "friends?" she asked a lump formed in her throat, Tony nods "friends." Scarlett cried, Tony hugged her, both cried for their already barely started relationship.

Scarlett's friends went to the airport with her "promise to keep in contact?" Tony asked, Scarlett smiled "promise" she hugged her friends and Tony the longest, both tried not to cry but knew it was inevitable.

Scarlett cried on the plane, Tony cried at the airport as Carol and Rhodey comforted him, Maria and Howard were too, they'd said goodbye to good friends for no-one knows how long.
