Joshua's Secret

As we delved deeper into the mysteries of the cursed island, we uncovered secrets that had been buried for centuries. Some were about the Mother of All Sea Monsters. One was about the pirates who put the Mother of All Sea Monsters into its slumber for the first time, but that wasn't new because it was part of the legend. One of those secrets was... about Joshua's past. It turned out that he had once been a scholar, a man of letters who had devoted his life to the study of the sea and its myths.

It was on one of his expeditions that he encountered the Mother of All Sea Monsters and narrowly escaped with his life. That encounter had left him scarred, both physically and emotionally, and had driven him to become a pirate. I always had a feeling that he knew more about the sea and its myths than most men did if they weren't pirates, but I never would have thought that he studied it. I just thought he paid attention to the sea and its way or that he listened very carefully to the myths. But here we were just told everything and honestly, I wasn't mad about it. He did have a right to not tell me everything.

The Darker Side of the Sea

As we continued our journey, I realized that the sea held more secrets than I had ever imagined. It was a place of beauty and wonder, but it was also a place of darkness and danger. It had beautiful creatures like mermaids and naiads, but it also had monsters that held horrifying powers like krakens and sirens. The sea could be both a nurturing mother and a merciless monster, and we were about to face the very embodiment of its darkest side. It was a scary thought but I knew I had to have faith.  But no matter what the sea threw at us, I knew that Joshua and I would face it together, for our love was as unyielding as the waves that crashed against our ship. He was the reason I kept pushing through all of the hatred and doubt I got for being a pirate. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't be here and neither would you.
