Out of the Dark & Into the Light
Chapter 43

(Carlisle's POV)

As Alice and Damien entered the study, their faces filled with a mixture of concern and anticipation, I knew that something significant had unfolded. Their urgency and the mention of Jackson's involvement only added to the mounting tension in the room.

Sitting behind the desk, I motioned for them to take a seat, my mind racing with questions. "What's happened? Why the rush?"

Damien took a deep breath, his voice steady but filled with gravity. "Did Jasper call you yet? Jackson has been hiding secrets since the 1940s, and Jasper snapped his neck in anger. He's temporarily incapacitated, but he's bringing Jackson's laptop with him."

Alice chimed in, her eyes focused and determined. "We need to gather the family, Carlisle. There's a connection between Alessandro's arrival and the secrets Jackson has been hiding. The pieces are starting to come together, and we can't afford to ignore it."

"I know Jasper contacted me as soon as he got off the phone with you. He explained something's to me. I am angered by the betrayal of my supposed friend." I told them.

My thoughts raced as I absorbed the new information. Alessandro's impending visit had already placed us on high alert, and now the revelation of Jackson's long-held secrets added another layer of complexity to our situation. It was clear that our family was being entangled in a web of intertwined events.

Nodding in agreement, I reached for my phone and dialed Jasper's number. After a few rings, he picked up, his voice filled with urgency. "Carlisle, I'm on my way back now, I told Esme to cancel the flight Kenzie will be teleporting there, while I run back to Forks. Kenzie should be there with her sister Odette, I hope everything is set up for her, and she has the laptop with her also. She also mentioned that she can hack into the files, and we need to gather everyone immediately. There's more to this than we initially thought."

"Understood, Jasper," I replied, my voice calm despite the growing unease within me. "Bring the laptop to the study. Alice and Damien are already here, and we'll coordinate our next steps."

As I ended the call, my mind raced with possibilities. Jackson's secrets, Alessandro's arrival, and the escalating tension within our family all seemed interconnected. It was imperative that we uncovered the truth and protected our loved ones.

Esme can rushing into the study and told me that Kenzie had just arrived with Odette and they needed me to check up on her.

I rushed out of the room, and into the temporary infirmary that I set up for Odette. Rosalie, and Esme were helping Kenzie with hooking up Odette to some wires, and a feeding tube. When she was done with that, I took her vitals.

Rosalie, Esme, Kenzie, and I were in the infirmary with Odette, while Emmett and Bree were in the living room, talking in hushed, frantic voices.

Jasper walked into the infirmary, the sight of Odette lying there, so still and pale, made his unbeaten heart clench. I was checking her vitals, a serious expression on my face.

"Jasper," I said, looking up at my entrance. "How are you?"

"I... I don't know," He admitted, feeling helpless. "But I'm going to find out why he erased my memories of her and how she ended up in a coma. And whoever did this to her... they're going to pay."
